Could the sudden death of Sir Charles Baskerville have been caused by the gigantic ghostly hound which is said to have haunted his family for generations? Arch-rationalist Sherlock Holmes characteristically dismisses the theory as nonsense. Claiming to be immersed in another case, he sends Watson to Devon to protect the Baskerville heir and to observe the suspects at close hand.

The greatest of the Holmes books, narrated by the greatest of audiobook performers. In short, this is the single greatest audio recording of any of the Sherlock Holmes tales. The narration was particularly well done and added considerably to the depth of this classic work. I fear I may wind up deep in the world of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson if I can find more of Derek Jacobi’s fine work in the genre.

Masterful performance of a classic
