Publisher's summary

A thief seeking redemption forms an unlikely connection with a former lawyer looking for a fresh start of her own, but what starts as friendship soon feels like much more....

Last year, Lauren Booker fled New York with a warrant out for her arrest. Now she’s back and ready to make amends for her crime. She wants to rebuild her life, and Brooklyn is home. There’s not much waiting for her here now, though, nothing except an online friend who’s brought her so much joy during one of the hardest years of her life. When they finally meet in person, Lauren’s unprepared for her attraction to Mia, but she’s even less prepared to discover that Mia has an unexpected connection to her crime, putting Lauren’s plans in jeopardy.

Mia Solano has also had a difficult year. Recently divorced, she walked away from her legal career after a health scare caused her to reexamine her priorities. Now Mia owns a cat café, and she’s struggling to adjust to a slower pace of life. She finds an unlikely friend in Lauren, but Lauren’s legal troubles force Mia to revisit a part of her life she’s trying to leave behind. She can’t explain why she’s so drawn to Lauren. They shouldn’t have much in common, and yet, they just seem to click.

As the connection between them strengthens, Lauren and Mia wrestle with growing feelings, but neither wants to risk their friendship by crossing that line. With Lauren’s court date looming ever closer, they might lose everything, including each other.

Great book

The story line is very well written, the MC are excellent. And when Lori Prince narrates you know it is going to be a pleasure time.

A very well written novel

I so enjoyed this book in many levels. It is well written, the narrator was solid, the story line is believable, and the characters are realistic. I love this series. I don’t usually listened to books twice, but I may have to go back and listen this again. That’s how much I enjoyed it.

Great conclusion to one of my fav sapphic series

Awww I loved this. I’m sad to see this series end, bc I’ve rlly loved all of them. They were only improved by Lori Prince’s performance tbh. This one was lovely. Not quite what I expected it to be, but I rlly enjoyed myself. Both Mia and Lauren are super lovable and easy to root for, and I loved the slow burn pace of their dynamic of merging from friends to lovers. And i LOVED the little bits of cameos we got from all the other couples in the series. Especially Josie and Eve, I think they are still my favs overall and seeing them rlly get their happy ending was adorable, esp with how full circle Lauren’s role is in it.

I can’t rec this series enough and I already can’t wait to re read it. Def one of my fav sapphic series out there I think.

A must

This was by far my favorite book! No need to break the MC to make a point, I loved how all the couples from the other books showed up at some point. Really loved Lauren’s backstory and character and her relationship with Mia. And hands down to the best rom-com narrator Lori Prince, just bringing them all to life.

A Beautiful Story!

I have listened to the entire series of 'Midnight in Manhattan' and I like all of the stories, but this one is my favorite. While all of the books can stand alone, it's better to read or listen to them in order, if, for no other reason, than to understand the characters. The main characters in this book, Mia and Lauren do battle with their feelings like many people who have perspective and fears to shape their experiences. The way Lacey takes the characters from point A to point B is, in my opinion, masterful. Walking the tightrope of desire versus reality is often a very challenging thing to do, and I often felt Mia's pain in discounting her feelings to keep a friendship. I have done this personally and it ISN'T easy!
Then there's Lori Prince! After listening to many books narrated by her, I have come to love her delivery, timing and, what I call, character analysis. Yes, she's reading the words, but she's also making the characters real! I could see them doing the things Prince was reading. That takes talent!
Bottom line... listen to this book! Heck, listen to the entire series! It's worth the time and money.

Great series

Bought the audiobook because I love Lori Prince narrating and discovered a new author I like. Prince nails the characters Witcher performance.
