Publisher's summary

The first book in the Shady Hollow series, in which we are introduced to the village of Shady Hollow, a place where woodland creatures live together in harmony - until a curmudgeonly toad turns up dead and the local reporter has to solve the case.

Reporter Vera Vixen is a relative newcomer to Shady Hollow. The fox has a nose for news, so when she catches wind that the death might be a murder, she resolves to get to the bottom of the case, no matter where it leads. As she stirs up still waters, the fox exposes more than one mystery, and discovers that additional lives are in jeopardy.

Vera finds more to this town than she ever suspected. It seems someone in the Hollow will do anything to keep her from solving the murder, and soon it will take all of Vera’s cunning and quickness to crack the case.

adorable

this story qas super adorable. I will have to look for the rest in the series.
the characters were so well written.
just such a cute spin in a whodunit mystery. fresh and different. and the story line was good too. it was not easy to figure it out, like in some other mystery books, where after the second chapter you know who did it. i was guessing for way longer this time.
thank uou so much for this story.

Cute, Cozy Mystery. Love Me Some "Old Lady" Books.

Welcome to Shady Hollow: a quaint little town of anthropomorphic creatures, where bad stuff happens so rarely- the residents don't even have locks on their doors! Life's grand until one day one of the townsfolk turns up dead. Whaaaaat? Cute, cozy mystery. A delightfully enchanting fall read.

Murder I Narnia

I thought this was so cosy and fun.
Kept imagining it as a murder mystery, but in Narnia, because of the animals, I think it made it even better.
If you love the Narnia books and love cosy mysteries, this is the book for you.

Cozy murder meets animal crossing

Trigger warning: mildly racist undertones. Murder, obviously.

Cute and cozy murder mystery. Characters are easy to understand but hard to pin down.
A very minor romantic subplot doesn’t detract from the story.

Not hard or taxing to enjoy. Vocabulary and sentence structure is mostly approachable and easy. Good for a beach, plane, or rainy day.

Absolutely delightful!

A thoroughly enjoyable listen. A cozy mystery combined with a town full of delightful animals. I can't praise Cassandra Campbell enough as a narrator. She deftly switches from voice to voice bringing each character alive. She is always an engaging and expressive narrator.
