But dying now comes with a terrible penalty, and failing Uru might not only cost him his life and loved ones but his entire world.

great!

I like the MC, he's a bit daft - as they usually are, but has a good heart. sound magic/cultivation mechanics, great narration, worth checking out. I'll be buying book two.

Just keep it coming. =^_^= On thing I hope for and that is that the MC will grow more matured and secure in him self and his ability's in the next book.

sick of the lazy origin story but it gets better

Everyone is mean and unfair to the main character, there's a conspiracy to keep him from being happy, he's blamed for things his parents might have done but there was never any proof he'll show them all. The first hour of this book was uninspired paint by numbers garbage.

but after it picks up really well. there is some really interesting world building and the magic system gets developed nicely.

so i was on the fence for this title for months. what a mistake. this book is worth it. great story. great characters. its worth your credit.

Its good don’t listen to bad reviews

I almost didn’t go for it after reading some reviews about a dumb MC which is def a pet peeve of mine but its not that bad and mostly explained anyway, any bit that erks me is a lil on that front is some of the cool combos he could make or use but doesn’t or hasn’t yet, looking forward to the next book to see where it goes

Ruwen's no good rotten bad day! 😆

What should have been the "best" day of Ruwen's life turned into the worst as it slipped back into the hard-knock life he's recently been having. He wanted to be a Mage and clear his families disgrace instead he allocated to join the worker class... and wow, there's nothing I love better than hard luck stories. Where the underdog has to work harder to get what he wants. And yeah a God intervened giving him a second class, a secret class at the same time to Ascension. But will he use it wisely 🤔? And as AF Kay plays around making every rule a first and the most important. Ruwen has to fight for every stat he gains. The ending was disappointing to say the least and even the epilogue didn't have a closer. But I still liked the book enough, and questions abound, which outweighed all my reservations so I still plan on jumping into bk2 The Second Betrayal.
And of course Travis Baldree was par excellence!

Surprised by this book

Found this title on a whim. To be honest at first I was skeptical, but after the first chapter I was hooked I love RPGs and it sounds like my DM from DnD is reading a character sheet and gives me ideas for amazing adventures. It's definitely a book worth your time in the series!!

Great story line and a nice break from OP

Nice break from overpowered protagonists. and it has a nice element of dungeon building and skill tree use along with cultivation. being able to twist the best three types of books in my opinion and lit RPG into one narrative is fantastic. can't wait for the second

I absolutely loved the story some parts kinda make me zone out like the reading of stats but understand they are necessary for the story

iv been down the cultivator road lately this is up that alley. I enjoy the new systems. the story that I can see unfolding in the long run and a lot of the twist and turns without answers. good book
