It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. NOT THE FIRST BOOK

Publisher's summary
War has come to the Willful Institute. It has come to the first realm.
For years Alva has trained, developed weapons, and tactics never seen in the 10 realms. Now Alva moves in the background, supporting the Adventurer's Guild. No band of fighters, no sect looking to gain individual honors.
The armies of Alva were forged together in Alva dungeon.
Tempered in body, in mind, in mana. Supported by Alvan traders, crafters, they reclaimed the lost floors of their home. They captured Vuzgal and defended it in the vicious battlefield realm.
Now Alva is going to war. Their abilities, their skills tested head on. One individual is strong. A nation focused, a nation brought together for a single goal. It is something that could shake the very foundations of the ten realms. A beast stirs in the Beast Mountain Range, raising their eyes to the higher realms. It is time Erik and Rugrat stepped out of the shadows.

There are slight changes, but everyone sounds too similar. I was hoping it would get better but meh. Not a fan of the new narration.

Not sure about this series anymore.
Lets start with the tile. It's wrong. WARNING SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD. They never make it to the 7th realm. This book is mostly contained in the 4th and 1st realm with the willful institute waging war against Vuzgal and cities in the 1st realm only to have another faction pop up from the 7th realm to kick their butts. I guess this is the point of the series where the author shows there's always someone stronger and we need to stretch this series more by having them rebuild again. Story felt flat to me, more like they are doing the same thing over and over again. I find myself not really caring about the main characters anymore. Narration seems better than last book but still not as good as the original narrator. I don't think I will be buying the next book.

People die... Get over it!
This is probably the best addition so far save for the fourth book. This is more of a reaction to the unfavorable reviews rather than a review on its own.
Spoilers ahead!
The first complaint is about the people saying this has nothing to do with the 7th realm. Are you kidding me? Who do you think attacked them at the end? It was people from the 7th realm. Yes they didn't go to the 7th room themselves, but if you read the actual title of the book it does say part 1. Maybe that's why you're listening to an audiobook because you can't read?
The second complaint is about some people complaining about important people dying. Yes people die. You will eventually die. Your parents will eventually die. Everyone you ever knew will eventually die. So? The question you should be asking yourselves isn't when people die but how they die. Obviously in this book they died protecting what they cared about. What more can anybody ask of them?
That's the difference between an adult and a child. A child thinks that the world is one way and nothing must ever change including the people in it. An adult realizes that the world is full of people that aren't so nice and may want to kill you. I'm not just talking about the 10 realms, but also here on Earth. Once you realize that life isn't a Disney movie you've taken your first step to become an adult.
Third you people need to get over the fact that there is a different narrator. This narrator is not awful. He has narrated several books that are by far comparable in quality to the 10 realms, and nobody complains about his narration in those. The issue is that you get used to the old narrator and you don't want it to change. This goes back to my adult comment. Grow up and get over it. Once you accept that there is a new narrator you will start enjoying the book for its content rather than how it sounds.
Now for critical review of some of the concepts. I do think the author needs to take a little bit more critical editing approach to his books. There were some glaring errors or what seemed like errors in the writing. A great example was a meeting where rugrat was mentioned but he couldn't have technically been there, because he was in Vusgal. It partially broke immersion but it was something that could be overlooked. I do hope the quality doesn't prove however.
As for the rest I cannot wait for the second part. I have read reviews without spoilers and I hear that it's just as good if not better than this book. Though that would be hard to top. I do love me a good military battle. One-on-one fights are fun too but nothing beats a good military ground pounding operation.

I miss Todd Menesse's voice
I have liked the series but it is getting harder and harder to listen to the book I notice that I lose interest and notice that a good while has passed and I do not know what has happened then I have to rewind and listen again. the voice of the narrator causes you to lose some of your attention.
I'm not so fond of the narrator a big difference and not for the better.

Frustrated
With the amount of different perspectives going on in the book it's hard to keep up with who is who and what is actually going on. Neil I feel like does his best but he only has so many voices he falls back on so you can't tell who is talking unless a name is specifically said. I'm really try to not give up on the series but it's only got harder since the 6th realm and now it seems like every realm is going to be a 2 part book.

This is not where it should be.
Not up to prior stories in the 10 realms. I agree the main characters need to have trials and occasionally lose, but this entire book is about the MC sucking, failing to win, and relying on trickery. All to avoid revealing their true power which gets revealed at the end when they lose again.

the worst one out of the lot
I can't even listen to this cuz I read the Kindle so I know what's going to happen so I'm going to review. they didn't even go to the 7th realm in this book. a couple of characters die that had no reason for dying I mean when was she wasn't Soldier or anything she is in the front line. another character died which was just stupid I they could have saved her. the biggest problem is that their way to passive maybe the word is reactive they should be proactive. more or less most of this book felt like a waste of time

Very slow, story is starting to slow down and plot does not feel to be progressing in a meaningful way. Starting to feel like Eric and Rugrat are side characters rather than having a meaningful role.

Starting to get to long-winded for me.
20 hrs of what one city battle. Detailed with so many characters into the minutia. Is this a documentary or what? Please stick with heck I can't even decide. I'm trying to finish this series but dang do I need to know which blood system was affected by which mana affinity and by the bodies temperature. Not to mention should they have tattooed runes or other structures on their are for efficient defecation?

the last 13 hours could have been 30min
this book started of strong and was going well untill the war started and then after that there were only 3 or 4 notable events and the rest was just the author padding out the book so he could split it into 2 parts. I mean this book is called the 7th realm but they didn't even go to the 7th realm.

Ok But dragged out
Still a pretty good book. It’s just drags out and milk the story too much. A lot is too verbose, specially the big battle that was toooo long. Should’ve put more in the aftermath instead for just ending it. I hope the author just doesn’t go for maximizing profits and forgets to tell a good story.

It’s a bad book
Don’t get me wrong. Micheal still an amazing writer but the book it’s self in this series is filled with so much needed conflict
It was a chore to listen to and honestly was just a bad experience.
The lose of character and plot points of the series. It felt like he just wanted to burn down everything he’d built over the last 3 books.
Honestly you can just skip it.

Abysmal book shame
This is a waste and made long for no reason. Obviously the author is just trying to milk it for no reason.

Good as always!
Tldr;
Alvans learn to use the word "fuck".
And for the first time they... Technically lose.

A fantastic book!
Everything I wanted and more! A great culmination of what many of the previous books had been building up to👏 if you’re reading this review then you’ve already listened to all the other books and this one isn’t something to miss!

Great continuation, with minor reservations
While entirely warranted by the story, the combat sections were just overly long for my preference.

Great addition
This is a great addition to the series. In this book we really get to se what they can do. We do get some unfortunate losses in this book which make me want to see what happens next even more. The voices are great and I can’t ask for more. Overall 15/15 give me more

Ready, set, Fight!
I have enjoyed listening to this series, and look forward to each new book. However I found Seventh Realm Part 1, harder to listen to than usual, it wasn’t a chore, and I was interested, however I found my attention wandering at times. The only thing I can think, is the amount of battle in this book, was greater than usual and I prefer the other side of Eric and Rugrat’s story. There were some very interesting twists near the end and I do look forward to the next book!

Trebuchet
Everytime the narrator said trebuchet wrong I cringed so hard. Wonderful book though, well worth it.

ugh this has become a chore
struggled to finish.
stuck with it after the narrator change but have noticed that the word building has fallen apart.
author creates 20 random narratives with characters you don't know and then does nothing with them.
Rugrat and Eric the MCs get no screen time anymore and when they do it's just a fight that isn't explained or they make it through by the skin of their teeth.
The whole book feels like an ad for the military.
disappointing because the first 4 realms got you excited for what the series could have been.
save your credits.
