eigh, not great

Audio drama productions or always a mixed bag. On one hand, you have the challenge of a short story in order to gain interest and build a proper character base. On the other hand you have the difficulties of balancing sound with dialog.

Having a lot of weapons fire sounds over top of dialog does not make it more authentic dhamma it makes the story suck more. Since I cannot even make out the words, then I am likely not going to get a message you were trying to send.

That being said, the voice actors were excellent as usual. The problem was arrangement and production.

John French is not my favorite author, but he has done good work. This very short bit needs a longer lead in that does not drop the listener into a completely abstract firefight.

The narrator was seemingly drawing curious conclusions based upon what almost seemed like non sequitur information points.

These were supposed to be legionaries of the Imperial Fists. Why were these guys getting so sentimental? I can see Blood Angels pulling at heart strings, but these are the sons of Rogal Dorn.

This is a case of a potentially cool side story being cut too short for John French to make it what it should have been. I still don't understand why he made the legionaries so emotional, but the story could have been better if it were not an audio drama and it was given a longer leash.

Compared to the other audio productions of the Warhammer 40K/30K world, this production is average at best.
