Publisher's Summary

It's never wise to talk to strangers...and that goes double when they're dead. Unfortunately, seventeen-year-old Anna Morgan has no choice. Resting on a park bench, touching the turnstile at the Metro station - she never knows where she'll encounter a ghost. These mental hitchhikers are the reason Anna has been tossed from one foster home and psychiatric institution to the next for most of her life.

When a chance touch leads her to pick up the insistent spirit of a girl who was brutally murdered, Anna is pulled headlong into a deadly conspiracy that extends to the highest levels of government. Facing the forces behind her new hitcher's death will challenge the barriers, both good and bad, that Anna has erected over the years and shed light on her power's origins. And when the covert organization seeking to recruit her crosses the line by kidnapping her friend, it will discover just how far Anna is willing to go to bring it down.

"I liked the story but the performance was distracting"

The story was very captivating and new enough to hold my attention. However, the narrator's way of enunciating each word drove me crazy. It's not so much that she read it poorly, it's that she read it too properly. The conversations were stilted, almost as if someone were reading who spoke English as a second language (nothing wrong with that) and they wanted to make sure and get each word correct. It did not have conversational flow I guess. I think if there are more books in the series I my prefer to read them myself.

    "Excited!"

I recommend this one for sci-fi/fantasy YA followers. It has enough tinges of the YA common themes, which we either anticipate or should collectively admit are guilty pleasure such as: angst, awkward romance, dysfunctional families, distrust of authority, copious references to pop culture and lavish cars. I'm excited for this new series because it has hints of all of the above but it's not (thankfully) the new Twilight, Hunger Games, or Divergent. It's different and the writing good enough to make me wish the next in the series will come soon.

    "Slow start, but got good!"

This started pretty slow for me. Didn't really get where it was going until you meet Aaron and Taylor and learn about their gifts too. Anxious for the next one already!

    "Good story, distracting narration"

The story was good--I'll read the next book--but the narrator was mechanical most of the time. At first, it was almost too distracting to keep going. But, I stuck it out b/c the study was intriguing.

"Amazing. Book for teens and adults"

My son (11) and I have to commute a ways each day and after the Timebound series he found this book and we were completely enthralled. And I'm 35. Highly recommended for teens and up!

Gripping story line, loveable characters, and a unique premise. This book made me look forward to commuting to work, then when I got home I couldn't stop listening.

Increasing my ops tempo by allowing storytellers to whisper in my ear(buds).

    "Not Time Travel"

I have enjoyed the Chronos Files books by Rysa Walker and since this book was also narrated by Kate Rudd I thought it might be similar. Unlike the other series this one was not much to my liking. Time travel is much more interesting to me than this entry into the paranormal powers genre. The characters seem to have similar sensibilities as the ones in the Chronos books so some may enjoy it. Me…I’ll wait for the next journey back in time.

"I cannot wait for the other books!!"

Each time I read the synopsis of her stories I feel like I'm gambling. each time I read one of her books I am rewarded with multilayer stories that I actually feel as the characters. Worth every second I skipped studying to listen or read! I love her stories, plot, characters and the thrill rides. thank you Rysa. Walker!!
