OUTSTANDING story line!!

I really do like this story line. Lots of Twist and turns and it doesn't bog down while keeping up the speed needed to keep one in the story.
The main character some times seems like and idiot but he does have help from others...

Great story and amazing narration by Nick Podehl

Would you consider the audio edition of Earth's Gambit to be better than the print version?

Yes. Nick Podehl does an amazing job as the narrator. He really elevates a great book to another level. He has moved into my first place as my favorite narrator.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Earth's Gambit?

I enjoyed the entire story.

What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voices are incredible. He brings each character to life and makes you able to feel them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot with some of the situations that Alan gets into.

Absolutely addicting

Would you listen to Earth's Gambit again? Why?

yes! subtle nuances that can only be seen with foreknowledge. its a new reading experience

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eve. her humor and insight are a fun paring with the socially inept alan

Which scene was your favorite?

Alan meeting the Prothian AI in the vault

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

some things are worth fighting for

Any additional comments?

the villans are a little convoluted and confusing. without spoiling, their interaction with alan is were with these guys, and were pissed youre not here fighting with us! fine well pay you to fight with us! HOHOHOHO were ACTUALLY with THESE guys and youre an asshole for not betraying everyone fighting with us in slavery!

villains were meh but the intrigue was VERY interesting

good not great

Spends too much time listing abilities and useless information for the sake of wasting time to an already short book. Jumps from one scene to the next without explaining or summarising many events. And lastly it expects us to believe a random idiot, makes it out of all these situations with very basic knowledge or skill and just picks up OP power after the next. Started out good now not sure.

starting to lose interest

after listening to the first book and thinking it was a little bit slow to start really enjoyed the book overall and got into it and was looking forward to book two unfortunately have to say overall pretty disappointed at one point I thought the book was too complicated and I wasn't keeping up with what was going on within the book but then I realised it's not that the plot is complicated it's just that I don't care what is going on seems to have lost all its momentum and I really had to push myself to listen to the last 5 hours one of the other reviews I had read said it was better than ready Player One couldn't disagree with this more would recommend that book over these two books any day

Non stop entertainment!

The second installment of Yap's 'The Game' is even more gripping than the first. I'm not a gamer myself - the story is standalone entertaining and so appropriate to a broader action and Sci -Fi/fantasy junkie audience. This story draws you into a multi faceted, complex universe with rich characters and abounding plot twists - the next installment can't come soon enough.

A truly gripping series!

By far the most immersive RPG series I have read this decade. Thee authors attention to detail is impeccable and succeeds in capturing the quintessential nuances of the genre. Thus is definitely one to read to the end, hopefully there will be many more additions.

Not as good as the first

If you could sum up Earth's Gambit in three words, what would they be?

Mainly Internal communication

Would you be willing to try another book from Cosimo Yap? Why or why not?

Yes, I've enjoyed both books so far

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The last 30 minutes

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The last few words of the book was a funny moment

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the first book, but a lot of this appeared to be Alan behaving like a teenager arguing with his AI, and so much appeared to be taking place in his mind that I got lost which parts were set in real life, which parts were in the game and which parts were in the game within a game along with his mind base.

I'm looking forward to more books, just hoping he spends less time in his mind base and more time interacting with others as that's when the story shines.

Narration was wonderful

good story, great narrator

I'm excited to see where this story ends up. This was probably better than the first book. The narrator does a good job of bringing all the different characters alive

Ready Player 1 meets Expeditionary Force

Ready Player 1 is one of my favorite books. It was the first LitRPG stories I ever read and it was so much fun. Sadly the next few I read I barely finished and some I didn't. I was hooked quite early with this series and finished both books in about 4 days.

I liken the feel of these books as the title says - Ready Player 1 meets Expeditionary Force.
Skippy the A.I. form Expeditionary Force is nothing like Eve though. But the general premise of an A.I. helping the main character to discover the mysteries of the universe along with some sidekicks to help is essentially the same.
Alan is similar to Wade from Ready Player 1. A down on his luck character who seems to stumble into a situation he is ill prepared for yet despite all odds shines under pressure.

You don't have to like playing games to enjoy these books, just understand how they generally work. If you love a great adventure and science fiction then you will love these books.

Nick Podehl does a wonderful job with his narration. His female voices aren't annoying like most males are who try to perform them, his accents are good and he is easy to listen to for long periods.

Buy this, love it, and spread the word so we can get many more stories from Cosimo.
