Not great.

Writers grasp of the setting is shaky. Overall story is not engaging. Characters all seem flat.

A very bad 40k book

I bought this book because someone in the comments said it was like Hellsreach.

Its not. In this book, the author for the most part does not bother actually storytelling. He just sort of recants events. And most of the eventfull happenings in the story, happen of screen.
This isnt even bolter porn. Its more like reading the ingredients list off a pack of crisps

Fun stuff, a classic in black library.

I quite enjoyed the story and the narration as a whole, and found the way that this fleshes out the crimson fists admirable. Previously i had found them much less interesting than the imperial fists, which i also found a little stock standard space marine for my liking. Here however, i grew an appreciation for more "standard" chapters and quite liked all the bits of the chapters history sprinkled in through the book. The main thrust of the book about fighting orks is, in my opinion the best and weakest part at the same time. The orks don't really feel to have their standard character here and seem more like just an enemy chosen on dart board for the chapter to fight. perhaps i'm wrong and should listen again

As far as other elements of it, i was quite excited with the astartes and humans interacting as that is something that is a little more rare. I quickly grew a little bored and frustrated with it however. Certain things between the humans and space marines seemed to make little sense to me, but i won't go into them here for you to see if you pick up on them at all, or if im just nitpicky.

All in all, i quite enjoyed the book even though it may sound like i didn't. I recommend it!

This is my favorite warhammer books period.

Excellent voice acting. In all this is my favorite warhammer story. One of my favorite stories period. I have a small complaint being. Could’ve used more build up for villains. That’s literally it and even that wasn’t bad.

Great listen

As an Imperial Fists fan, it was great to read about our successors. The humanity of Kantor mixed with the pure anger and hatred of his closest friend is a great dynamic.

The story is paced well. There are great fight scenes, but they are not unnecessary. Sometimes it is just explained and area is clear rather than 20 extra pages of unnecessary scenes. Was a big fan.

The reading

Emperor’s spears was better and I think devastation of Baal was as well. But the reading was beautiful

Nuff said. Right there. Incredible. Just incredible. Every word. Every second. I loved this book beginning to end and I want more from Kantor

Great first Space Marine book

I’ve never been into Black Library books or Space Marines that much but Rynn’s World was an awesome first delve. Very grimdark and the Orks were refreshingly brutal rather than the comedic relief they often fill. This book has me wanting to paint up some Crimson Fists now that I’m done. Highly recommend

it was ok

overall it was quite enjoyable, however there were a couple occasions where something would be said, just to be said again very differently, maybe I misheard or wasn't paying attention however, if you ask me there's a difference between an autocannon and assault Cannon, and 200 space marines and 300, and at times I felt certain things could have slowed down a little, or been made to seem a bit more dramatic.
