THE STORY

But Scout-Sergeant Naaman knows just how dangerous this foe can be, and when a renewed offensive takes the Dark Angels by surprise, the orks swarm towards Kadillus Harbour.

Belial, Naaman and their fellow Astartes must fight a desperate siege at Kadillus, knowing that if they do not hold out until Imperial reinforcements arrive, the planet will be lost. Little do the Dark Angels realise the technological power available to the xenos, and the true scale of the threat they face.

Valiant sons of The Lion

I loved the interactions between the Dark Angels and the guardsmen as well as the introduction of several awesome characters some of which I regret that we won’t be seeing again.

best 40k and dark angels book I've read in a while. like horus rising but for present time.

I listened to this and then the new dark angel book about lazarus and the difference.... is sad. this book is amazing and it's everything I miss about grinders, the character connection and perfect roles, and just perfect following of this campaign down to the squad level is actually beautiful. if your a dark angels fan and you havnt heard this then I'm genuinely jealous.

A Blood Angel vs Ork story that includes Belial and Gaz

This is a 1 and done story about a company of space marines versus an unexpected ork invasion.

Belial, Commander of 3rd company of the Dark Angels, is in his early days as a company captain here. He's new in his role and unsure of the decisions he makes. Over the course of the novel you see him grow as a leader.

This is a 'bolter porn' novel with great character development throughout. The perspective given in each chapter range from a scout marine all the way to company Commander and everything in between. I liked that.

I thought the audio performance here was 'ok'. all the imperial characters sound similar except for sometimes being deep and sometimes not. I loved the narrator's ork performances. They are funny and add flavor that is otherwise lacking in the performance. solid 3 for ne.

Definitely recommend if you're a Dark Angel fan and looking for a peak into their chapter.

Sgt Naymen was the best part.

Good battle sequences and also gives a nice insight into what I think are two opposed mindsets within the Dark Angels. Sgt Nayman and Chaplain Boreas have interesting views even if they're subtly communicated and implied.

Terrible Narration

Overall a great story, but the narration is awful. The speech pattern he chooses to use for the Dark Angels is halting with strange inflections, it’s beyond unnatural and it’s hard to listen to. I don’t believe I’ve heard this narrator in the many 40k novels I’ve listened to, but he tried too hard and fails catastrophically.

Action packed

Not understanding the bad reviews this one was awesome constant action great story telling honestly left me wanting more

AMAZING 40K NOVEL

This book is without a doubt the best 40k novel I have read or listened to, and that is an extensive list. My favorite part of it is that the book takes you into perspectives of different roles in the space marine forces. My personal favorite was the role of the apothecary, taking you behind the scenes and not really focusing on the battle was a nice change of pace. Great work from Gav Thorpe, and an amazing performance by Andrew Wincott as well, I hope he narrates the next installment!!!

Everyone gets away from the dark angels!

I always thought that the dark angels abandoned their allies but they also abandon their own what they did to mc scout sergeant after he reveals crucial info and becomes the tip of the spear in their attack no one even had to say "fallen" but boom they were gone.

Bolter porn with some gold

This book is a reminder as to why chaplains are the best, and this is not my opinion but rather this is a fact, and if you disagree with it you are a heretic, and a loser. And scouts are also pretty cool.

Good not great

Like how the stories were intertwined with each other, but maybe a little meandering in some spots.
