THE STORY

Supreme Grand Master Azrael summons Lazarus and his Fifth Company to honour an old debt on the Knight world of Reis – a planet upon which the warp has set its hungry gaze.

But Lazarus is not so sure Reis wants to be saved – its Knights are long lost, its governance is dogged by political strife, and internecine conflict hampers the world’s defence against an ancient evil. ­An evil which, like Lazarus himself, refuses to die.

The story kept me interested. I'd definitely recommend to a 40k geek for sure !!

I really loved the character development and the way things unfolded, made it a fun story all the way through! Can’t wait for the next dark angel story!

Great characters, bolth human and astartes, very interesting unique villian. Really a must read if you like dark angels, or 40k in general.

Fantastic

This is an insight into the dark angels that has been missing for a long time. There’s also an insight into the Knights that has never been seen before that made me love them more than I already do. Truly a fantastic story.

Solid freshie

I appreciate the “standing on the shoulders of giants” feel you get with the wyrdbook and her interactions with Dark Angels. The dialogue was delivered in a sort of “fantasy” feel IMHO. Doesn’t effect value of book for me. Maybe others but I can’t speak for them. Lots of engaging and likeable characters, even the Primaris! I love all the new stories in motion. I think this the first for me by the author. Good job. I won’t shy away from any future stuff by you. Be well and keep scribing

Before you buy

If you’re coming for a continuation of the Lion the Son of the Forrest or Arks of Omen just know this is set before the Arks of Omen finale. That said this is a great classic Space Marine story that cuts to the heart of the Dark Angels and their secrecy and serves as a fun action story.

Wow! This is an unexpected surprise!

Exceptionally great storytelling and keeps things interesting throughout. Very entertaining, lots of action and I'm only a quarter way in. Dark Angels, for the Empororer! For The Lion!

What a great book

All in all a really good book an one of the better wh40k storys you will surely like it 👍

Best Dark Angels book

I have a rocky relationship with the Dark Angels. Half the time they are noble knights and half the time they’re unlikable assholes who I want to lose. It really depends on the author. Gary Kloster has done one of the rarest things ever: he made a Dark Angels story compelling without the Fallen being a part of the story. The characters are very likable and fleshed out, the story is compelling, and I really want more stories about Lazarus. I actually finished reading the book before I finished listening to it because I was that compelled by it. The performance by John Banks is good as always. Definitely check this out.
