Publisher's summary

High-flying trader Dean Harrison has it all: the London penthouse apartment, the fast car, the beautiful wife. But when the threads of Dean’s life start to unravel, they do so with alarming speed. Following the advice of a frail stranger, Dean sets off for Welnetham Hall Hotel and is plunged into the mysterious world of room 119 - a world where nothing makes sense. How does everyone in the hotel know his name? Why does he travel there on a train line that shut down over 50 years ago? And who is the sinister man in black who pursues him wherever he goes? As he gradually pieces together the puzzle of Welnetham Hall, Dean is forced to reevaluate his life and realizes that nothing is more important to him than his wife and daughter. Desperate to get back to them, he vows he would lay down his life for the people he loves. It’s a promise he may have to keep.

Room 119

I enjoyed this book. The way he goes on a train trip to a hotel and what happens to him to open his eyes makes for interesting reading. Good lesson to be learnt from the book.

Good story, but oy with the clown

***WARNING!! MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS***

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the story, the characters and the narrator was really good as well, and made the characters come to life. I enjoyed how Dean went back in time and the paranormal aspects of the book, but when it came to the clown / circus thing, I sort of lost the plot. I felt it did not really fit with the feel of the story and I did not like it at all. I also felt that the daughter was portrayed a lot younger than the 14 years the book stated she was, as she did not speak or behave like a 14 year old. My favourite part of the story was how all the guides from Welnetham Hall Hotel was all together in the end.
If it was not for the clown / circus part, this book would have gotten 4 stars from me.

BLOWN AWAY!

I am not even sure I can find the words to do this book justice. This book takes you on an incredible journey about life, death, family, love, perseverance, self sacrifice and what it just may look like on the other side. It's beautiful and thought provoking. You are left with a warm feeling and a zest to live your best life. As well as the importance of putting family first and to always nurture those relationships. This was a nonstop listen for me. I just could wait to see what happened next. I was in love with the main character Dean from the start. Going on this life changing journey with him was phenomenal. I urge everyone to read this book, you wil not regret it!!!

An amazing story that offers a new perspective

I greatly enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Well-written, with a humorous, tongue-in-cheek turn of phrase that had me chuckling a few times, this book is not a comedy. What it is, is a beautiful and touching story of failure and hard-earned redemption.

With a touch of the paranormal, the twists and turns that mark the main characters journey are as unusual as they are meaningful, and I loved the depth of his relationships with his wife and daughter, as well as other characters who affected his life so deeply.

The narration is excellent and I found no fault with it. A wonderful book and well-deserved five stars, all round.

It was pretty good

I enjoyed the beginning of the book, but when the weird stuff started happening and I realised there was "fantasy" going on, I almost stopped the book. I don't do vampires, demons and Harry Potter type stuff, can't stand it .
But I pushed on and in the end enjoyed it. All the fantasy and other-worldly things were a bit irritating to me. It makes you think and it has a very good life lesson.
I didn't enjoy the narrator, I don't like these heavy British accents, but realise it fitted with the book.

WOW! Not what I was expecting at all!

I started listening to this story, and admit that I was a little perplexed as to why I had opted for a book about Stock Market trading. I loved Jade McLean's narration so I stuck with it. I am ever so glad that I did. The story follows Dean Harrison, a workaholic trader who is very successful. He has a home in London, and fancy car, a wife and daughter hidden in an expensive burrough (who he doesn't spend very much time with) A very risky trade goes sour, he has a terrible accident, and then things start getting weird. This is a tale of redemption, hope, and love conquers all. You get to meet death, a clown, and experience a life or death chess game. Give it a listen, you won't be sorry

Incredible

A book has to be very special or memorable for me to give it 5 stars. Congratulations T.F. Lince on this.

Very good right from the start as I enjoyed the introduction to the characters. The book is exciting, you have no idea what is going to happen, it reminded me a little of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstein, which I read many years ago but did not review at the time. It keeps you on your toes, but without violence. The book is very clever and intriguing as the author writes about his main character, Dean. The whole book draws you in with it’s originality.

Room 119

I really liked this book! Dean is a top notch trader, but a not so good dad and husband. After an unscrupulus partner actions nearly takes his life,he is sent to Room 119. His options improve in odd ways. Jade McLean was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
