Publisher's Summary

Michael Anstruther-Wetherby is a man destined for power. Except that Michael, for all his political skill and intelligence, lacks the most important element of success: a wife.

So he goes searching for his ideal bride, a gently bred, well-managed young lady. Michael discovers such a paragon, but finds a formidable obstacle in his path, the young lady's beautiful, strong-minded aunt, Caroline Sutcliffe. Caro has lived through an unhappy political marriage, and wants nothing of the sort for her niece, especially as the young woman has already lost her heart to another.

Caro and the younger woman hatch a plot: Caro will demonstrate why an inexperienced young lady is not the bride for him. In deflecting Michael's matrimonial attentions away from her niece, Caro unwittingly focuses them on herself. And then it is Michael's turn to be persuasive, a task that requires every ounce of his seductive charm.

A series of mysterious and dangerous accidents befall Caro; it becomes clear that an assailant has stepped in with his or her own idea for Caro's future, one that could even involve murder. Before Caro can become Michael's ideal bride, they must race to uncover the unknown's identity before all hope of what they long for, and wish for, is destroyed.

terrible

this book jumped around and had no real plot. i guess that is what you get with unabridged. worse was the narration. HORRIBLE. you could not determine what character was speaking or when the narrator was narrating. one of the worst listens i have had yet. good thing it was cheap.

Abridged VERY poorly

The abridgement of this book is terrible. The jumps make almost no sense whatsoever. The tone of the book is lost and became very difficult to finish listening.

Stephanie Laurens never disappoints

What made the experience of listening to The Ideal Bride the most enjoyable?

While I did enjoy the story, I do much prefer to listen to Simon Prebble's rendition. Clare Higgins did a fine job, but the enthusiasm and power that Prebble presents is exceptional.

What other book might you compare The Ideal Bride to and why?

Each and all of Stephanie Laurens novels are similar in nature, all being wonderful to read in print, but even better to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

All of Laurens books are ones that I want to listen to in one sitting, but this is impossible due to their length.

Explicit SEX

I thought this was going to be a good romance story. Not only was the story lacking a GOOD romance ( I thought it was very lame) The sex scenes are shocking! If you want a GOOD clean romance, don't buy this book!
