From USA Today bestselling author Laura Lee Guhrke comes the story of a bargain, a marriage of convenience . . . and the chance for love to last a lifetime

They had a deal . . .

From the moment she met the devil-may-care Duke of Margrave, Edie knew he could change her life. And when he agreed to her outrageous proposal of a marriage of convenience, she was transformed from ruined American heiress to English duchess. Five years later, she's delighted with their arrangement, especially since her husband is living on another continent.

But deals are made to be broken . . .

By marrying an heiress, Stuart was able to pay his family's enormous debts, and Edie's terms that he leave England forever seemed a small price to pay. But when a brush with death impels him home, he decides it's time for a real marriage with his luscious American bride, and he proposes a bold new bargain: ten days to win her willing kiss. But is ten days enough to win her heart?

The narrators were superb. The story is somewhat engaging. It's heavier than most historical romance, but a worthwhile read. Spice level: 🌶

Good Story

Spoiler alert, this isn’t your typical romance,no sexy scenes here.Horrible things have happened to the main characters.Stuart was coping,Edie not so much.Gonna take more than 10 days to work through her fear.More dramatic than romantic.

The Duke’s got his work cut out for him

Don't Judge The Book By The Tittle OR You'll be dissappointed. At first I thought this is kind of light romance about how to get rid of unsuitable man for a husband, instead I find the story so charming and sweet that involve marriage of convenient and hidden dark past. My first with the story theme, as well as the author and the narrator. So happy to find it undissappointing, and so glad to spend my credit on it.

First of all. I can’t believe there is no trigger warning about this one. It is heavy in rape recovery. Very heavily centers on it in fact. The entire books plot is centered around it and its not until the very long end that we see resolution. For me, it was a good story until about halfway through and I just wanted the dang story to moovvveeee oooonnnnnn! I get that rape is not something that a person can just move on from in a rapid pace, but we don’t necessarily come to fiction, especially historical romances, looking for such deep and heavy topics. I appreciate when they are visited, and I don’t even mind when its the plot, but for some reason this just seemed the same chapter over and over again. Like it just didn’t progress, but was repeated in a different way. Idk, All I know is that in the beginning I really loved the story, and by the end I was extremely thankful it was over.

Susan Ericksen was fabulous. I think she could read the label on a cereal box and have it sound interesting. Lol.

All in all, I got this in a 2 for 1 sale and while I don’t regret reading it, I definitely will never listen to it again.

Meh, and trigger warning for some
