Fun Book Great Performance

The story was fun and creative. The voice actor was fantastic. I enjoyed the main characters and there adventures. Looking forward to the next book!

Good Enough

Overall, I enjoyed listening to this book. The story is fast paced and interesting. A bit predictable after a while, but there are enough twists and turns that it never gets boring. The worst part of the story is the cliche magical sidekick. I know why it's there. If it wasn't the MC would be by himself with little to no dialogue in the beginning of the book, but the trope is so "young adult" I always get annoyed by it.

New take on an undead skeleton.

The skeleton/slime hybrid is a new approach on an undead. Story wasnt bad. I'll check out more of this series.

Great from start to finish

I like the dynamics between Shawn and Gel. The incorporation of Gel's memory absorption was a really clever way to not only give a proper base line for Shawn to navigate through this new world but also added real emotional depth I wasn't expecting from this story. The humor was great as well. I know when you have a fantasy story about the undead you'll have to deal with grim elements but it got a lot darker than I expected. Which is a good thing because it really grounds the story. There's humor but also tragedy which the author struck a good balance. I highly recommend this series.
