An Experience

I am uncertain what on earth I just listened to... but I suppose it was intriguing in a guilty pleasure kind of way of watching someone whose an utter mess try to keep things together and avoid crashing and burning. I can't say much for the plot as I'm uncertain what it is. Surreal is certainly one way to describe it, another one would be a hot mess, but for what ever reason I kind of liked it and even found some food for thought. That's in no way saying this is deep, the depravity shown here almost comes of as comical and preachy. Our main character didn't earn my sympathy anymore than the people shown in Tiger King or something like that, but two of the side characters caught on her way did make my cold heart feel something.

The performances were pretty great, but the ambient sounds and music became near painfully loud compared to dialogue at certain points, artistic choice I'm sure, but in this case one I fundamentally disagree with. If it was tad lower at "times of distress" where it's supposed to create feeling of discomfort to the listener I'd have been fine with it. I like the ambience, but I don't actually want to suffer and have to focus on hearing the actors words. It's like when a movie is almost too dark to see what's happening so you shut all other light sources.

It's too short for me to actually spend a credit on, but I don't regret spending time listening to it trough Audible+ catalogue. I honestly don't know why I came off this enjoying it, there is likely something wrong with me. If you don't mind spending much of the time just in the characters head while karma throws her past at her and she continues to make questionable life choices... I mean look, you likely know if you'll like this or not

Good story, but not for me

This was different from other books that I've listened to in that there was a lot of music in the background and lots of other voices and it was hard sometimes to hear who is actually supposed to be speaking and understand what they were actually saying.

Boring messed up story with no redeeming features. A whole lot of angst from beginning to end

Not at all as described

I expected this story to have a beginning, middle and ending, none of it seemed to make sense…the music was so loud at times and to my ears sounded like screeching, with that said I could hardly get the gist lots of possibly important dialogue was lost due to the music, this has to be one of my very least favorite stories, it was bad enough that I felt need to write a review suggesting that even though it was free just pass…

What is sanity…

This story has some very interesting characters and excellent narration too. This was a well written little story.

A Promising Letdown

The description promises moody, escapism, mystery, and crime thriller; but, in my opinion, this story is a sad depiction of psychological disorder.

The soundtrack, especially at the end, is excellent but sounds very similar to that of the TV series Sirens. That said, it fits the scene perfectly.

Resort

Not a fan of this book. When the book was done it felt like so much was left unfinished. The music and background noise would drown out the narrators voices making it hard to hear what they were saying.

Story of falling apart

I don’t know what I expected with this story, but it wasn’t this. It was told very well and kept my interest because the narrative was so compelling. Had I known the story line, I would have skipped.

Not sure why this is not getting better reviews..

If you like gritty, trendy, and psychological thriller stories.. then you will probably like this one. This is not the type of story that wraps up in a neat little ending, nor is it the type of story with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. this is not that type of mystery thriller. This is about a Disturbed young woman and what she goes through in her psychological breakdown while also experiencing some of the finest things life has to offer. the themes are current /trendy which is fun, the main character shows a lot of depth and intelligence. It's kind of out there. like I said, it's not one of those neatly wrapped stories, but the narration is good and the soundtrack is very good. I love the soundtrack, and the overall story kept me interested until the very end. After I finished it, I was surprised it got the reviews so far that it has. so I wanted to leave a better one and let people know a little more what kind of story this was so that maybe it could get some better reviews.
