We hired her to keep our daughter safe.

My husband doesn't understand why I want to return to work, especially while our daughter is still so young. She's only four weeks old. But I'm at risk of losing my job if I don't.

Hiring a nanny seems like the best solution, and Bree Miller is the perfect answer — she's young, bright and immediately adores Delilah.

We go for a walk in Central Park on Bree's first day. I'm taking a call when I hear a loud, high-pitched shriek. My heart races in my chest as I turn the corner.

A man dressed head-to-toe in black has his fingers wrapped around the handle of Delilah's stroller.

Bree is fighting him off. As I run back to them, he flees. Bree is left with a dark bruise on her face and her eye is swollen shut.

Someone tried to kidnap my daughter.

Then, threatening photos arrive on my doorstep. They send chills down my spine.

Someone is after me and my family. And suddenly I can't help but wonder if the danger is outside? Or have I invited it into my home?

A brilliantly twisty story packed with nail-biting tension. Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Valerie Keogh and Daniel Hurst.

This was an interesting read for me as I don’t usually ever dislike characters so much. Andrew really annoyed me. He was just kind of an a$$ to Lucy. I never really got why she wanted to be with him other than his looks. Lucy was so frustrating as a character. She just made awful decisions sometimes and couldn’t see or didn’t trust her gut. I will say I thought I knew what was going on but was surprised. The very very end was the best. Glad out up with my annoyance of the characters to learn the mystery. I’d still recommend the book as the story is good, the author does a good job of keeping you hooked.

Frustrating but yet had to listen to learn the truth

Very slow book. So many little things happening with no explanation. Which is supposed to keep you guessing but overall time I lost interest in the main character. It had a twist but it wasn't that shocking. Maybe I have listened to too many thriller books and they are becoming redundant. But this story was lacking to me. The end is why I gave it 3 stars. It made up for the rest of the story

It was alright

The writing was okay. I definitely felt the suspense and that motivated me to keep reading… I NEEDED to know what was going on. But, wow, the end! There are so many holes and things that don’t make any sense. That’s what made the end such a shocking twist… it really couldn’t be predicted because it’s so illogical. Like someone just threw random shocking things in like a Scooby Doo reveal! It’s mind boggling to me really. Anyways it could be entertaining but it’s definitely not a work of art, and the author could work harder on piecing together a smart ending that still shocks the reader

Make it make sense!!!

Don't get me wrong, it was a good story & really had potential, but don't follow through. The character development could’ve used a little work, especially once you reach the ending and have to think back to everything that led to that conclusion. It’s almost like you get to the end and have to piece things together yourself instead of it being in the story.
The narrator did a fantastic job, but the storyline and character development could’ve used a little work. The end didn’t really match the story, it just left a lot to be desired.

The story fell a bit flat...

The ideas took too long to come together. Why would someone go into her best friend’s apartment when she was already a suspect? A whole bunch of uncoordinated suspense that was a turn off at Chap 49.
