Publisher's summary

StoneWater bears Pavel and Yakov Stepyrev have been a unit since birth, but now Pavel's life is veering in a new direction, his heart held in the hands of Arwen Mercant, a Psy empath—and the only man who has ever brought Pavel to his knees.

This is it. A point of irrevocable change. For Pavel . . . for Arwen . . . for Yakov . . . and for another pair of twins whose bond has a far darker history.

A low-Gradient Psy, Theodora Marshall is considered worthless by everyone but her violently powerful twin, Pax. She is the sole person he trusts in their venomous family to investigate a hidden and terrible part of their family history—an unregistered rehabilitation Center established by their grandfather.

The Centers are an ugly vestige of the Psy race's Silent past. But this Center was worse. Far, far worse. And now Theo must uncover the awful truth—in the company of a scowling bear named Yakov, who isn't about to take a Marshall at face value . . . especially a Marshall who has turned his dreams into chilling nightmares.

Because Yakov is the great-grandson of a foreseer . . . and he has seen Theo die in an unstoppable surge of blood. Night after night after night . . .

Contains mature themes.

Truly Enjoyable

Great story, found it captivating . I really hope Pax gets a happy ending. It would be a bummer if he doesn’t.

Night Shifter

I found this series from the Book Night Shifter. It tells about Bastian and how he found his Kirby. I knew there was a story missing. I found it the other day. But for years I’ve read every book in this series. This series is everything. I can’t wait to see if Pax finds love or if he becomes the next villain. Either way I know it will be fantastic. My favorite purchase every year!!!

I love this series so much, I can't wait for more!

📚 "Resonance Surge" by Nalini Singh brings the heat in this 7th installment of the Trinity series and the 22nd in the Psy-Changeling world. The story revolves around the Stepyrev twins, Pavel and Yakov, who discover love while navigating their own unique paths. Pavel's romance with Psy empath Arwen Mercant (which started in "Silver Silence," book 1 of the Psy-Changeling Trinity series, and has been building in the background until now), and Yakov's bond with Theodora Marshall, a Psy whose family history is shrouded in darkness, are at the heart of this gripping read.

🏞️ Set in the vibrant world of changelings, the book takes us deep into the StoneWater bear clan, capturing the playful energy and tight-knit camaraderie that define these lovable shifters. The Russian culture and traditions add an extra layer of authenticity to the setting, making it feel both familiar and unique. 🐻

🧩 The plot kicks off with Theo, who, alongside Yakov, unravels a sinister family secret, uncovering a dark rehabilitation center that brings back memories of the Psy race's Silent past. The story is fast-paced, filled with suspense and emotional twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. Yakov and Theo's journey is one of discovery and trust, while the long-awaited Pavel and Arwen relationship takes a more prominent role with gentle warmth. ❤️🔥

💞 The romance in "Resonance Surge" is both slow-building and deeply heartfelt. The dynamic between Pavel and Arwen offers a unique take on love, with Arwen's shy yet sincere nature balancing Pavel's boldness. Yakov and Theo's relationship develops with trust and mutual respect, creating a compelling and tender connection. 🌹💖

🌱 The side characters add charm and depth to the story, with the bear clan's playful antics and tight bonds creating a sense of family. Fans of the series will love having the tiny gangsters back, along with Valentin and Kaleb Krychek. Pax, Theo's twin, brings complexity and intrigue, while the StoneWater pack's warmth offers a comforting backdrop to the intense plot.

✍️ Nalini Singh's writing style is immersive, with detailed world-building and engaging character development. The balance between action, suspense, and romance is expertly maintained, ensuring a captivating reading experience from start to finish. Singh has a way of drawing you into her world and keeping you hooked. 📖

✨Angela Dawe's narration adds a whole new dimension with her wonderful, on-point accents and voice nuances.

🌟 "Resonance Surge" is a powerful blend of mystery, romance, and heart. With its richly developed characters, suspenseful plot, and authentic setting, it’s a must-read for fans of the Psy-Changeling series. The emotional journey and engaging storytelling make it a book to remember. Highly recommended for those who enjoy slow-burn romance with a touch of suspense and plenty of heart.

BEARS!!!!

4.5 Stars 🌟

What can I say about this book? Seriously, I just have to preface everything with....BEARS! I absolutely LOVE this series, but I love it even more every time we get to jump in and focus on the StoneWater Bear Clan. This storyline was a bit different in that the character of Theo (Theodora Marshall) was a little bit harder to get to know and to develop feelings for (at least for me).

We have Pavel Stepyrev (a Bear) who has a little bit of the Psy Forseer blood in him and he has had visions of someone who he thinks just might be his mate since he was about 16 years old. The only problem is that in his visions, she always dies. Always. While he is helpless to stop it. For a StoneWater Bear, and a Second at that- that is just unthinkable.

Theo has gone through her own challenges, and her back story is truly heartbreaking to learn. She is also going on her own journey as she tries to uncover her past and determine just how culpable she is for some of the monstrous things she did for her grandfather.

So - that is how the two of them get together. Theo is trying to investigate and Pavel is assigned to tag along and help (watch) her.

I listened to most of this on audio and as usual, Angela Dawe did a fantastic job. She has become the voice of the series for me.

We are deeply into this series at 22 books and it is always great to get to see characters that we have come to know and love drop in for small visits. If I'm being honest, I would have liked to see more of this, or at least maybe a little more page time for some of them (Kaleb Krychek, the Merchants, other Bears, etc)

So, another winner! Now the wait begins for the next book. :)

A great Series- Read all of them.

Please start at the beginning of the series. You could try just reading one book, but all of them are so good and it truly is a series. I can’t wait for the next book to be out mid 2024. Also the narrator Angela Dawe is just perfect. I love her bears.

Always leaves me wanting more

I’m a huge fan of this series and was very much looking forward to this book. It definitely delivered, though I was expecting more “screen time” for Pax. Based on the Epilogue, it seems likely that Pax will be more important in future books, so I guess that’s ok.
Saving the Psynet has been the driving through-plot of this arc, and I’ve been enjoying that. But this book focuses far more on the core romance, like the original books from the Silence arc. I don’t have any objections to that, per se, but I am anxious to see progress on the save-the-psynet front.
*sigh* And now I get to wait another year for the next book. :*(
Waiting is the worst.

Only getting better with time

A lot or reviews of Nalini’s newer books don’t get the praise they deserve—the writing, ideology, world building, and narration get better with every iteration of her psy/changing series. Each time a new one comes out, I reread all the preceding stories, and the growth is unmatched. Her characters come from a multitude of backgrounds, ethnicities, orientations and the release of this audiobook in time for my birthday was the best gift. Thank you for giving us more bears Nalini!!

Nalini Singh just gets better

Totally exciting story smack full of twists and turns. I listened in one day. She even included the romances of both twins! With the possibility of a new bad guy. I don’t want that poor tortured soul to become evil. I want him to find a way to stabilize all of the scarabs!
