Publisher's summary

Why was the ghost pointing....

....at a chair in the church?

I was born and raised in a radical, abusive, fear-controlling, ultra-fundamentalist religious family.

This is my true inspirational story of how I survived abuse and neglect as a child and then escaped the church by seeking truth and freedom against all odds.

Most people never escape religions with cultish control because the brainwashing is virtually impossible to break....

....So how did these ghosts rescue me from this control?

This church had many cult elements and produced Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, plus Jonestown, Guyana cult leader and mass murderer Jim Jones and controlled thousands of people with fear.

Written in story form to inspire you, make you laugh, cry, and think.

Why was the tiny child required to warn bullies three times?

You will love this true story because everyone loves to see the hero win!

Captivated but slow going in the beginning

I enjoyed it very much and didn’t expect the religion of Christianity to be investigated here. That was a plus as I’ve always questioned much hypocrisy I’ve seen in many churches.

I was curious as I grew up in the church and my family comes from generational trauma - verbal, physical and sadly sexual abuse as well. Scary world. But good to not feel like the only one that can rise above it all.

rescued by ghosts

At first I just could not get into this book. I kept listening and realized this is just what a dear friend on mine went through with his religious upbringing.
He is still sorting through what he was taught and what is the truth.

Narration for Audible version is terrible

Unfortunately, I was not able to even get through Chapter 1 on the Audible version. The author narrates the book and it may be wise if there future books to allow someone else to narrate. Not everyone can narrate and this sounded like he was reading to Kindergartners. Cadence, voice inflection, pauses were all off . I will try reading this book on my own because I think it has potential to be interesting

Unbearable Narration

The story is probably good, but the audiobook story-teller is awful. Overly animated, dumb voices, child like voice inflections... I can't do it.

Worst narration ever

Just because you wrote it doesn’t mean you should narrate…ugh, horrible! Shame on your ego.
