Publisher's Summary

What is America becoming? Or, more importantly, what can she be if we reclaim a vision for the things that made her great in the first place? In America the Beautiful, Dr. Ben Carson helps us learn from our past in order to chart a better course for our future.

From his personal ascent from inner-city poverty to international medical and humanitarian acclaim, Carson shares experiential insights that help us understand what is good about America, where we have gone astray, and which fundamental beliefs have guided America from her founding into preeminence among nations.

Written by a man who has experienced America's best and worst firsthand, America the Beautiful is at once alarming, convicting, and inspiring. You'll gain new perspectives on our nation's origins, our Judeo-Christian heritage, our educational system, capitalism versus socialism, our moral fabric, health care, and much more. An incisive manifesto of the values that shaped America's past and must shape her future, America the Beautiful calls us all to use our God-given talents to improve our lives, our communities, our nation, and our world.

Every American Should Read This Book!

What made the experience of listening to America the Beautiful the most enjoyable?

Dr. Carson has an amazing penchant for not only clearly stating problems facing the U.S., but also (refreshingly) offers simple and viable solutions to even the most complex.

What was one of the most memorable moments of America the Beautiful?

As an avid student (scholar) of history, Dr. Carson relays events that used to be included in our school books and emulated by those aspiring to greatness. The story of George Washington as relayed by the ancient Indian chief has long been a favorite of mine. It was heartening to 'see' it in a book again.

What does Dion Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dion Graham does a magnificent job! He brings the story alive through the voice of a great orator who is also a 'regular Joe'. It is as if Dr. Carson is speaking directly to the listener.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me PROUD once again, to be an American and reminded me that 'we the people' are ONE, and should remember to act accordingly. It puts the party system back into its proper perspective and illuminates key points on how it has become so polarized and what might be considered to help remedy the situation; eloquently done without pointing fingers or assigning blame!

Any additional comments?

I have already recommended this book to people of all political persuasions and social strata, and will continue to do so. It is must read!

Ben Carson for President 2020!!

Dr. Carson has an ability to reach many people based on his life experiences. His logic is irrefutable . He represents all that is best about being an American. I would recommend this book to anyone age eight to eighty to help them realize that their basic beliefs affect everything they work for.
I'm a medical professional and I hope that even in 2016 they recruit him to straighten out our healthcare system!

"Rediscovering what made this nation great"

A book full of common sense and logic - Especially enjoyed the last few chapters - as the tile says "Rediscovering what made this nation great"! - We need to go back to our roots and to the wisdom and values of our founding fathers...God Bless America!

Best Presidential Candidate for 2016. We need a civilian in the white house, not professional

Easily the best presidential candidate for 2016. We haven't had a civilian leader since President Eisenhower just after World War II… I think it's worth a try to NOT put another career politician in the White House which means Trump, Fiorina & Carson look better than others.
Additionally, all 3 candidates have had great success in American industry both public and private. That means they understand how things work. Those who go straight from college to Washington DC for internships and working for government officials… They don't learn anything about the real world, just politics.

Please run for president

Great book. Great views. If everyone was on the same page as what's in this book we'd return to being the great nation we once were. We are still great, but on the decline instead of on the rise like we should be.

Finger on the pulse

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Dr. Carson makes some very relevant points given today's focus away from what really matters. Back to the basics, back to the Constitution, and back to a genuine value system that encompasses accountability and love.

What other book might you compare America the Beautiful to and why?

Any book written by Conservatives with a fundamental focus on the Constitution. Or, Tom Brokaw's latest book.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dion Graham?

Ben Carson.

If you could give America the Beautiful a new subtitle, what would it be?

"My thoughts on how to restore the Great American Experiment."

Any additional comments?

Dion Graham has a nice voice, but reads each sentence as if it were a stand alone melodramatic point. It gets very distracting.

very G.O.P propagandish

Would you try another book from Ben Carson, M.D. and Candy Carson and/or Dion Graham?

I have read Dr. Carsons first book and thought I would like this one. I expected to read about what he has observed and learned through his journey of being a Neuro surgeon and his take on life in America in general. but what I heard is what I have been hearing for the the past few years (almost verbatim) of the Republican platform. I wanted to connect with his words, not the GOP words. As an African-American woman who started in the

What was most disappointing about Ben Carson, M.D. and Candy Carson ’s story?

the seemingly hidden agenda leaning towards a republican party platform

How could the performance have been better?

the reading was fine
