Interesting Mystery

This was my first experience with Malcolm Tanner's work, and it was entertaining. Mike Parsons' ex-wife passed away after attempting suicide. Mike sought help from the female detective who investigated her case. There were some twists and turns. I liked that events that kept happening, kept me guessing as to where the story was going. The characters were complex. I found that some of the repetitive angst that the main character exhibited got a little tiresome. Paul J McSorley's narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Legal Thriller

the story was reasonably intriguing, however the writing got in the way too often. Switching from first person to third person chapters was clunky as well as present tense mixing up with past tense. It really distracted from the story. This was my first book with this author and I won't look for another one. The narrator did a good job with some of the challenging aspects of the book. A pleasant voice and kept things moving at a good pace.

Easy listen with some twists

The story juggles multiple characters and a fast-paced plot. There are some twists that keep you guessing, and the ending was satisfying while also leaving open some interest for the next book. What makes this book unique is it’s an action plot but quite a bit of deep thinking is involved as well for the main character. It’s a thriller that doesn’t neglect the internal character arc for the external plot arc.
The narrator has a deep voice, and he didn’t do a high-pitch whine for females like some narrators try to do. Overall, a pleasant listen.
