One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the disease that is destroying the race of warlocks.

Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Just Amazing

This will go down as one of my favorite books of all time. It was sooo good I gasped cried and laughed throughout. James Marsters (Spike) can read all my book to me and I would be happy.

too much

It's safe to say that I am no longer a Shadow Hunter fan. The books are getting longer, the plots are just all over the place. This book has the same themes and schemes as the original series just recycled and dragged out. The threesome was just too much. Her writing has gone from enchanting to pornagraphic and racie. She tackles a lot of real world issues, but we get enough of that on social media and the news. This book is no longer an escape from our mundane world.

I finished this in a day

This book was incredible. I was going back and forth between the audiobook and my physical copy, but I still got to listen to this for 11 hours straight while I worked. Cassandra Clare writes the best conclusions, and I am still recovering from how amazing this one was.

Need more

I have the whole series! I babe Mortal Instruments and the clock work series as well. Definitely recommend Morganville vampires or vampire Academy for anyone looking to get their next binge read

Want to stop

I came to the reviews to see if anyone else is having issues with the voice. Everything is read in a whisper, low tone, slow pace. Makes everything sound so boring. Sometimes I can't even tell when the narrator switches to another character's point of view. I'm thinking of returning this audiobook.

book is amazing. voice actor is awful.

couldn't finish listening to audible version. switched to the Kindle and read it. book is amazing. voice actor is terrible. a mix of whisper husky talking and insanely SLOW cadence. I had to increase the speed, then slow down for other characters voices. I couldn't even get past chapter 3, skipped half way to see if the voice acting got better. no luck. I will be returning this audible. not worth the annoyance of the voice actor trying too hard. keeping the Kindle. love the story.

So upset by narration!

I love Cassandra Clare and will always be a shadow hunter fan. I was looking forward to this book, and I couldn’t wait for it to come out. However the narrator voice was so off putting¡! First of all the main protagonist is female so that’s interesting it’s read by a male; it definitely hurt the immersion process for me. But the worst thing was his voice! It’s very deep and idk raspy.... During dialogue of female characters, he basically airily whispers their sentences in his low, deep voice. It was unbearable. It reminded me of a deep voiced, Lord Voldemort and felt like listening to nails on chalkboard! I’m super frustrated now. I don’t mind reading the book, but I was looking forward to a week of actually enjoying my commute to work, huge let down. Also I feel terrible being so critical of someone else’s hard work, sorry for being so harsh, but I can’t take whispers or airy talk.

beautiful and heartbreaking

I've been waiting so long for this book to come out. it did not disappoint. it was beautifully written, and beautifully narrated. James marsters did an amazing job again. I'm deep in mourning over having finished this book, and this series. please please read or listen to this book. it will haunt you for hours, and days after finishing.

so glad Its arrived!

finally, some of the questions and mysteries lingering In the other books are answered, the adventure and action was kind of addicting to listen to, and I'm glad it was a long book, and I still want more! This continuation furthered my appreciation for many of the characters and is done well enough that you feel for them and are hopeful, or on edge, while waiting for an outcome. The warlock scenes were some of my favorites. so much potential for more excellent stories to unfold.
