Publisher's summary

When Meander, Cinderella’s second cousin thrice removed, is chosen by charming Prince Fred to be his lucky bride, no one at Wildwood Castle is expecting the newest princess in the realm to be dissatisfied with courtly life. But Meander is indeed an unhappy princess. Wouldn’t you be if you were stuck inside a castle most of the time?

Princess Meander was accustomed to doing many things and doing them her way. After turning the castle upside down and roaming the entire countryside, she finally finds something that makes her happy as she sits quietly for hours and hours on her royal throne. Listen to this delightful story to learn what it is about.

For kids of all ages

I don't have a kid, but I love fairy tales (especially those of the "fractured" variety) so I figured I'd give Princess Meander a whirl. It's short, sweet, funny, and uplifting. If I did have a kid, I'd play her this instead of reading it myself because the narrators are way more entertaining than I could ever dream of being. Using a variety of accents and going through a lot of different emotions in the 25-minute story, they knock it out of the park (or kingdom, as the case may be). Good stuff, well worth the price of admission.

Likable Story!

I would imagine that this story was written for children in the 5 to 6 year old age group just by the content and way it is told, however the author tends to use words that a child of that age would not know the meaning of (in my opinion, though I might be mistaken). I am also of the opinion that the use of words that are not understood would make a child quickly lose interest in the story. This is such a pity.
That said, I liked the story itself, hence the Story rating of 3* (Audible rating = pretty good). Perhaps the author could revise the "big" words used and publish a revised edition?
I enjoyed the dual narration with all the interesting voices and accents, which kept my interest up.
I was gifted a copy of the audiobook and my voluntary and unbiased review is recorded above.

Double review

This is a two sided review one from me and one from my kids

I’ll go first. I am not in love with this one. As a mom, I strive to make my kids learn responsibility including cleaning up after them selves and helping around the house. This book takes her good habits and tells her she isn’t suppose to do them. I am also not of fan of whining so that kind of got to me too. I do love her the Princesses determination to find something she can do and enjoy that isn’t against the princess rules.

My kids. They loved it. They have listened to it multiple times and each times ask to listen again immediately after it ends. They giggled along and were excited when the princess decided to be a writer. They have however decided they don’t want to be a princess because she couldn’t do anything 😂.
