Publisher's Summary

In this number-one New York Times best seller, Ann Rule, the undisputed master of true crime, brings her formidable talents to her only novel, a riveting tale of psychological suspense.

When Danny and Joanne Lindstrom's camping trip in the Cascade mountains goes terribly awry, beautiful young Joanne is left alone and stranded in the savage wilderness. Her last hope is to rely on another camper, a tall stranger who seems to know the forest and the dangers there all too well. Without him, she will surely die; with him, her future is as unpredictable as the lowering clouds that envelop the mountain. He asks only that she trust him....

Suspenseful and entertaining

I enjoyed the audio version of Possession by Ann Rule. I thought the writing was really good, authentic in the characterizations and descriptions, and the story flowed nicely. I was captivated from the first chapter through the very end. I would highly recommend this audiobook. Definitely worth your credit!

Descriptive Sexuality

The blatant and descriptive sexual activity with the evil man makes this story extremely difficult to endure.

Excellent! Thought it was true story, but even better.

Fantastic novel by renown True Crime Author Ann Rule. I bought by accident, bc I’ve been only listening to true crime and thought this was another Ann rule crime book. I’m not sorry I listened to Possession. I really enjoyed it. Very enthralling. To the very end. It’s not what I expected. Loved this one. Great narrator.

Gratuitous Sexual Assault

Struggled to finish it. Laborious rape scenarios. Unrealistic (hopefully) feminine helplessness. Please know, I am not being a 'hater' I really like Ann Rule's sorry telling - but this one was not for me.

Narrator

Brian Stivale is the best narrator I have heard thus far. I really enjoyed this book.

well written, a definite page turner

I had been waiting for this book of Ann's to become available on Audible. Ann is one of my favorite authors and she did not disappoint with this novel. interesting that this one is loosely based on a true crime that occurred in the late 70s too. I enjoyed this narrator as well as he really drew me deeper into the story.

Great storyline

Ann Rule did a great job with her first fiction novel. I will recommend this.

Cheap and tacky novel

I love true crime and have always enjoyed Ann Rule’s books, both written and audio. I soon realized this was a work of fiction, and not good one. It read like a cheap, tacky novel and I couldn’t finish it. I would call it a total waste of a credit.

Not my favorite Ann Rule

Not sure how I feel about this book. I'm a big fan but this one was drawn out. It was good but not great

I thought I'd heard it all...until this

sexually charged story....full of twists and turns...the reader is steeped in the psychological torment of the main characters, and prays for justice to be done.......

Odd, disturbing, and boring.

Ann Rule's other books (non-fiction) have been interesting and well written.
'Possession' is a really weird story that barely links together some very poorly written pornography; the basic idea of the plot could have been engrossing but it definitely didn't work out this time. Even for a book written in the 80s this was a disturbing and offensive read throughout.

Stick to true crime - this is rubbish

I love Anne's true crime so stuck this out to the end. I wish I hadn't, it got worse, not better. unbelievable story line and unnecessary porn scenes. Definitely her worst book ever. At least the narrator did as well as he could with such garbage.

Stick to what you know

Ann Rule is the undisputed queen of true crime. But this book is a perfect example of sticking to what you’re best at. Which in Ann’s case was not fiction. Also, far too many cringe-worthy, soft-core porno-style sex scenes that only the saddest of lonely housewives would want to hear.
