Writes as a white person for white people

I liked the information on reflective listening. I felt like this mode of communication doesn’t really deal with tough issues such as racism in a matter that the issue deserves. The author seems more content with getting along with people than really dealing with substantial issues or getting at the heart of real change. Some techniques in this book I think are helpful but I think a lot of people could walk way from this book with a form or communication that sits comfortably within white ideals and a social framework and social methods setup for white folk. I couldn’t finish the book after the authors dealing with racism. I may reread the chapters on assertiveness and reflective listening though.

comprehensive and practical book on communication

I love this book. It's a book you can keep returning to in times of conflict to work out the best approach to better understanding.
