Publisher's summary

In Part of the Pride, Kevin Richardson, dubbed "The Lion Man" on 60 Minutes, tells the story of how he grew from a young boy who loved animals to become a man able to cross the divide between humans and predators, looking some of the world's most dangerous animals directly in the eye, playing with them, and even kissing them on the nose - all without ever being attacked or injured.

As a self-taught animal behaviorist, Richardson has broken every safety rule known to humans when working with these wild animals. Flouting common misconceptions that breaking an animal's spirit with sticks and chains is the best way to subdue them, he uses love, understanding, and trust to develop personal bonds with them. His unique method of getting to know their individual personalities, what makes each of them angry, happy, upset, or irritated, has caused them to accept him like one of their own into their fold.

Richardson allows the animals' own stories to share center stage as he tells listeners about Napoleon and Tau, the two he calls his "brothers"; the amazing Meg, a lioness Richardson taught to swim; and the heartbreaking little hyena called Homer, who didn't live to see his first birthday.

Great story about lions and guys who wrestle 'em

Kept my attention thruout and I was sorry that it had to end. When will the sequel come out? I want more! Kevin Richardson is as fascinating as the lions!

The wild life and loves of Kevin Richardson.

I loved this book. It shed light on the "how" he got where he is today. I'm happy he shared parts of his life with us and still shares the passion for animals . I will pass on the joy of reading or listening to this book to others.

Amazing true story

I love Kevin and the work he does, he is so humble and cares about the animals above all else.. it’s just incredible to see the animals interact with him on his YouTube channel, you can tell there was absolutely no violence used with the animals, they genuinely love him too. You can support his park and work by being a member on his YouTube Chanel for 4.99 a month, a coffee per month. He honestly helps restore some faith in humanity.
The narrator does an excellent job and it’s a pleasure to listen to his voice.

Wonderful introspection into an important species we need to save.

Kevin’s stories are well-articulated, & you feel as though you are with him on an ever-important journey.

We don’t need to pet lions, or have them in Zoos, but we do need to see more of Kevin in the world.... more people like him, saving a corner of the World, one-person at a time.
