Was it an earthquake? A meteor? Or something else entirely?

Running from a marriage proposal in Seattle, Dana Ingram returns to her parents' farm in Western Colorado for a two-week vacation in Paradox Valley. Only a couple of days into it, however, a small earthquake leaves them without power. Cars won't start, batteries don't work, and cell phones are useless.

When a Black Hawk helicopter vanishes off of radar, Captain Corey Conaway is sent in to locate it and its crew - all while keeping the disappearance out of the media. When she meets Dana and her cousin, Butch, Corey solicits their help in the search. But as they travel on horseback through the rugged and remote Paradox Valley, what they stumble upon soon has them running for their lives.

The sci fi lesbian romance you've been looking for

I would recommend this book to anyone sick of reading coming out novels and recipe romances. Keep in mind that the romance of this novel doesn't start until a little ways into the book, and unlike many other stories in this genre, it's not the only thing happening in the plot. This was a fun light read that I found fulfilling and had me sitting at the edge of my seat. And it doesn't hurt that Abby Craden's voice is incredibly sexy and that she is a wonderful narrator. Check out other things she's read as well but definitely check this one out first!

Intriguing

Couldn’t put it down. A great read that keeps you in the edge the entire time. The narration was also excellent.

Edge of my seat

It was a deeply layered story just like all of Gerri Hill’s books. It was suspendful with great character development.

Slow to Start, but Wanderlust Hook at End

I'm so hard to please... I whine when there's not enough character development, then whine when stories are slow to start. I wonder if my initial impressions will unfairly bias another future listener or reader... I wonder if, since I've never stuck my preverbal neck out like these fearless authors if I have a leg on which to stand...

In the end, once the character development had proceeded, we find our notoriously outside-the-box, cop-like ladies in uniform up against sci-fi villanry. (Just made that word up...) Chilling and unexpected.
