Engaging book

From the start it had me hooked. I was cheering them on in my mind.

Gerri does it again!

I’d taken a break from Gerri’s books because I’d discovered a few new authors. Late in 2024 I realized that there were a bunch of her books available.

I love her series and stand alone books!

Now for this book! Fantastic. Abby always does a great job, so no surprise there. Gerri does a great job at combining a romance and a crazy intriguing storyline!

I love that she does mystery and suspense. There are always twist and turns that keep me focused! Moving on to book 2!

I highly recommend this series and all of her other books. I’m picky so that is saying a lot coming from me!

really enjoying Gerri Hill stories

overall I have been really enjoying Gerri Hills books. this story had a couple spots where the characters were on the phone one second and then next they were together the transition was seemless and a bit confusing. but I really liked the ending to this story and can't wait to start book 2.

Loved the Heck out of this book, my favorite from Gerri this far

I loved the bouncing from one character to the other with each chapter allowing readers to know what each was thinking! This book was suspenseful surrounding the case, the characters were so deep and hurt from their past, they helped heal each others hearts and (predictable spoiler) witnessing them fall in love was so emotional and pure.

Amazing!

Wonderful book! Amazing pacing, intriguing story - I love the tie in to the Hunter series. Characters have unbelievable chemistry, and it has me laughing constantly.

Crime and romance

Well done! And most suitable for readers/listeners who enjoy sappy and sexy romance while on the trail to catch the bad guys. The on-the-job flirting isn't very PC, but, relax, it's fiction, folks.

Typical Gerri Hill Crime Thriller

This was your typical Gerri Hill crime novel, with a bit more focus on the characters’ intimate relationship than the actual crime - probably because a bit of the crime was already explored in a previous novel.
***SPOILER***
One thing I found hilarious was that the serial killer threatened the FBI agent’s kitten. It’s hilarious because GH has the propensity to lay on the baggage really thick, and it was especially thick for Cameron Ross, to the point there was literally nothing left in her life to threaten but a kitten she’d just picked up a few weeks prior hahaha. GH never shies away from creating a high functioning character that by all means should be a basket case, and it’s unusual that I think it feeds the story at all - it did not add anything to the story in this case either.

Another great Suspense Romance

Gerri Hill and Abby Craden are great again in this excellent Suspense romance. Love these!

2 Wounded Women

Deputy Andrea (Andi) Sullivan and Agent Cameron Ross both carry a lot of emotional guilt from loss. Agent Ross also carries physical scars. Can these two women help heal each other while trying to catch a serial killer?

Would you consider the audio edition of Devil’s Rock to be better than the print version?

Yes & no. I love to read myself but due to my disability I have to listen to audiobooks sometimes. I personally prefer to read a book and use my imagination. However I really did love this book in audio. In fact it is one of my new favourites. So I can't really say if it's better or not as i will both read the book and listen to it again & again.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The first time I read it, yes. However because I have read it more than once I knew what was going to happen. I believe if you haven't heard the story before then yes it will intrigue you.

Have you listened to any of Abby Craden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I have quite a few books read by Abby Crayden and I LOVE her voice. This has to be one of my favourite books that she has performed. She really brought this story to life and I love the voices she gave the two main characters. All the secondary characters had their own voices too so you knew who was speaking. I could probably listen to her read the dictionary and be happy, although I am glad that she has much better options.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, the bit where Cameron was really emotional and was telling Andi about her family. And the bit where Andi found out that Cameron had read files about her past.

Any additional comments?

I love this story and am a big fan of Gerri Hills work. I have read all her books and I hope that the rest will be released on audible in the near future. Gerri Hill is a talented writer and this is one of my favourite romance/intrigue stories by her. While I prefer plain romances normally I do enjoy Gerri's intrigue books. Hunters Way will be released soon and that is a must read/listen.
Abby Crayden does an amazing job with this book and really brings the characters to life.
