Everyone has secrets, don’t they?

One last client
A week at a beautiful chateau in the south of France—it should be a straightforward final job for Dora. She’s a smart, stunning and discreet escort, and Daniel has paid for her services before. This time, all she has to do is to convince the assembled guests that she is his girlfriend. Dora is used to playing roles and being whatever men want her to be. It’s all about putting on a front.

One last chance
It will be a last, luxurious look at how the other half lives before Dora turns her back on the escort world and all its dangers. She has found someone she loves and trusts. With him, she can escape the life she’s trapped in. But when Dora arrives at the chateau, it quickly becomes obvious that nothing is what it seems…

One last secret
Dora finds herself face-to-face with a man she has never forgotten, the one man who really knows her. And as old secrets surface, it becomes terrifyingly apparent that one last secret could cost Dora her life…

Heartbreaking, brilliant, But be prepared to be drawn into the reality of a life that too many young women live.
The author, to her credit, stuck with grind
that our protagonist experienced.
This is not a book for those who subscribe to the Hallmark channel.
Despite a few glitches, it has staying power.

Overall, I like this book a lot. However, it was a little slow to start off. It was hard to keep my attention. But after the first couple of chapters, I couldn’t stop listening to it. The end caught me off guard which was a good thing. I would give it a try.

Good story

The main character comes off as conceited and arrogant. I did not care for her or her many, many rants. Every twist was predicted. Only one small detail was actually a twist. Too long of a book for such a rudimentary novel.

Too predictable

The narrator was fantastic, all of her voices were distinct and made sense for the character. It was an overall good and captivating story but was definitely dragged out and repetitive at times. I predicted the twist, but an exciting story nonetheless

Decent read, excellent narration

Basically an unapologetic sex worker plans to get out of the game but decides to book one last job and let’s just say things go horribly wrong. Though the twist/reveal is obvious looking at the timetable of what happens, this book held my attention from the very beginning. UNTIL THE 11 YEARS AGO FLASHBACK PART STARTED. This whole 2 hour plus section could have EASILY been lifted out of the book and it would’ve been way better. But I recommend and I will be looking out for other books from this author.

Loved it through first half. Then the flashback…
