Some wallflowers bloom at night...

Violet is a quiet girl. She speaks six languages, but seldom raises her voice. The gentlemen aren’t beating down her door.

Until the night of the Spindle Cove Christmas ball, when a mysterious stranger crashes into the ballroom and collapses at Violet’s feet. He’s wet, chilled, bleeding, and speaking in an unfamiliar tongue.

Only Violet understands him. And she knows he’s not what he seems.

She has one night to draw forth the secrets of this dangerously handsome rogue. Is he a smuggler? A fugitive? An enemy spy? She needs answers by sunrise, but her captive would rather seduce than confess. To learn his secrets, Violet must reveal hers - and open herself to adventure, passion, and the unthinkable...Love.

I basically love anything read by Mary Jane Wells (including Captain Jack's Woman although she's undera different name).

I welled up with tears also felt so proud of Violet and her strength. She covered all her points very well. Gosh she was so strong. I absolutely LOVED HER!

loved it

I would probably listen to more of the Spindle Cove books if they were narrated by MJW. But unfortunately they are not. This is a nice read and good short story.

Tight, well written novella in the Spindle Cove setting. Narration was outstanding. Highly recommend. You will be delighted.

I did not like narrator. I found it difficult to understand her accent it took away from the story

Story good

Mary Jane Wells is absolutely fantastic! Now I am basically choosing only titles narrated by her. She has ruined any other narrators, except for Rosalyn Landor of course. The story was short and sweet.

This truly is book 1.5 filling a small gap between book 1 and 2. A wonderful addition to the series. Familiar characters and a unique story.

Mary Jane Wells is just outstanding! This was my first mini-story of sorts from Tessa Dare and she developed it beautifully with dynamic characters. Loved it!

Amazing as always!

I loved this little side story, so heart warming and charming. I adored Violet as much as I loved Susanna. Can't wait to keep reading.

So wondeful

I'm being honest when I say I rarely give 5 stars to a book. This book had all you could hope for even tho it was packed into 3 short hours. I do love Tessa Dare, I have read several of her books, a couple of her older ones I didn't finish, but I feel once she started sharing her wit with us, I fell in love. I have one small prob with this book, about the man she loved and knew most all her life, but enough said about that. It definitely is not enough to drop even 1/2 if a star for me personally. This book is a delight.
