A human, a fae warrior, and the wicked Unseelie king walk into a bar. Just kidding. There is no bar. But there is a quest to find a missing queen. And tension. Lots of tension.

When she and her love, Rowan, went to the Unseelie Court, Gwyndolin only intended to ask the Unseelie king to stop his fae from attacking the humans and Seelie fae. She did not intend for him to insert himself into their quest to find the high queen. But who can say no to the wicked High King Aspen? He takes what he wants, and he doesn’t care who he hurts in the process.

His magic may be useful, but his arrogant, flirtatious attitude may cause a rift between her and Rowan. She hates Aspen, and he seems to only want to antagonize her. So, why does it seem like there’s something else he’s hiding? And will it threaten everything when she finds out?

This novella, set in the realm of the Fae-blessed series but sometime before that series, is full of love, betrayal, and villains. Who doesn’t love villains?

Prepare to fall in love with the villain.

This novella was initially released in the Romancing the Rogue: Falling for the Bad Boy Villain anthology, now with two more chapters, character art, and bonus scenes! While this book is shorter, the rest of the series will be full-length novels.

I found the book interesting and more of a set up for another story. It was much more sensual than expected but still closed door. If you like morally grey MMC leads, fae worlds, and royal intrigue, it's for you.

Great narration, sensual, and interesting plot

Lemme just say when the voice for our high king came on I was giggling like a mad man and melting I was like yesssss sir let’s gooo!! I loved it!!! And his guard fife? Ooof. Ahhh I loved this as my first audiobook and I had a fun time for sure! Everyone give this a read I thought it was fantastic!

Gwyn (a human) and Rowan (seelie) go to the unseelie king seeking help to find the seelie high queen. It's a quick listen if you like or prefer something shorter.

I absolutely loved this quick little listen. Grace is amazing as usual. Gregory brings all the swoon to Aspen as the wicked Unseelie King. And Anthony's Rowan? Oh man! He brings just enough sweetness at the beginning that as the listener you believe him along with Gywn.

One thing that I loved was that Rowan's and Aspen's dialogue each came through one ear, and then at THAT twist, they switched! So you keep one ear for the male that you love and one ear for the male you hate. And you can hear just how crazed and unhinged that one male gets as the story progresses, and especially in the epilogue. So Amazing!

Excellent short read so glad I got the opportunity to listen to this on audiobook and get an introduction into the story. There’s a lot that happens even in this short beginning and it definitely hooks you to see what might happen in the novels to come. I do recommend that you read the trigger warnings. While there is a kidnapping in the book, it’s not as traumatic as you would think a kidnapping would be. I would recommend this book to those who love Fae stories and Fae adventures and trickery, and that whole type of culture of fantasy adventure with a touch of romance.

This was an interesting listen. It was my first multicast audiobook ever, so it was pretty interesting and a bit jarring to listen to. I’m interested to listen to more multicast audios, to see if I like them! The actors who did the voices were absolutely phenomenal! They did an amazing job. I highly recommend listening, especially if you love multicast or radio theatre.

This story was interesting. The plot did not surprise me that much, but it definitely made me intrigued to find out what happens next in book 2
I really like Roden, I love that he acts exactly as i imagine a fae would, especially around a human. And I am super excited to see what he does in book 2.
I also really liked the Unseelie King’s magic.

Negatives:
This was my first multicast audiobook, and it was very interesting. It was also a jarring for me. I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, I think i need to listen to more multicast audiobooks to fully form an opinion on whether I like them or not.
I’m not quite sure why the king is so drawn to the human, it seemed weird to me, but maybe it will be explained further in the next book.

Romance: Romance is talked about a bit. The MC thinks of romance as possessing the FMC.
Cussing: None
Magic: Yes! The magic is so awesome.
Violence: A limb is lost. Multiple fight scenes occur.

Amazing voice acting!
