Story
Trained to kill from a young age, Gavin Lorren finally escaped that life. No more killing innocents. No more working alone. The jobs are still dangerous, but at least he can choose. Now an old friend has invited him to the city of Yoran where the work is plentiful. The Roasted Dragon tavern is rough but cozy. The regulars are seedy but welcoming. The owner, Jessica, is fond of him. It's almost too good to be true.

Story
It has been thousands of years since beast-kind were united under one banner. The empire encompasses most of the known world, driving out or enslaving the lesser races without mercy. In a state of constant war and conquest, they have perfected the art of battle. For commoner wolf-kind Valian, being accepted and trained in a noble house's army was a dream come true. Without wealth or a family, it was his best shot at attaining honor and glory. Until fate intervened. When Valian discovers he's descended from an ancient and long-thought-extinct line, everything changes.

Story
After capturing the sorcerer called the Apostle, Gavin decided to remain in the city of Yoran where he’s become comfortable. Work that had been plentiful has dried up and comfort becomes complacency. While new friends help to find jobs, they’re not the kind of jobs an assassin trained to be the Chain Breaker should take. He’s trained to kill, not track down relics in a city that long ago banished magic.

His mind raced...as he lay in the alley. Why was he there? Gavin knew two things - his name and he was wearing a tunic and pants. From beyond the alley, hustling city sounds were unfamiliar. The warmth of the sun on his neck and its position in the sky suggests it was mid-morning. The first choice he made, turning out of the alley, would change his fate. Marcus has led a full life, but he was sick of it. Six thousand years of magic, mayhem, and fighting other people’s wars has worn him out. Why wouldn’t people just leave him alone?

Story
After a long and brutal conflict, the war is over. Otto controls all the portals on the continent, and Garenland has made vassals of the other kingdoms. But some people can’t accept defeat. While Otto hunts King Villares in Rolan, Axel chases Prince Uther across Straken. With Markane scheming to help their enemies, the future of the New Garen Empire is far from certain. Even worse, the Wizards Guild is challenging Otto for leadership of the empire’s wizards, and they’ll use any means necessary to win. The war may be over, but the battles are far from won.

Good start to a series
There's a lot going on in this book. The author use historical figures to tie in a good fantasy story. My only complaint is although, there's plenty of action, sometimes the story stalled. Overall a good listen though.

Overall Fantastic!
To start this might have been the best narrations that I've heard. Great range for the Male and female characters but it was just so well done for all of the epic moments in the story. The voices that were delivered felt so real and full of emotion. It felt like I was really there.
Aside from the narration, the story was incredibly well written. It reminded me of the movie "Momento" where the MC has no memory of what's going on and what led him to this moment.
Overall, this was a very interesting book with a great ending that still left itself open to more in the books in the series.

A Great Listen
Just because you're saved, doesn't mean you're safe as Darius finds out. Saved by people he doesn't know or at least doesn't remember, Darius feels alone in the world except for his panther. He decides to trust those who have saved him, to help him kill the one that took his memories. An interesting plot and well written character enhance this story that will grab you and keep you listening long after you should have turned it off. Well worth the listen. The beginning story in this series is great. The narrator was awesome. I really loved all the characters except for the MC. He came across as whiny and immature. Except for the very end. I'm going to continue this series because it is good.

A Good Tale
This is a well done story, following a powerful warrior who just lost his memories and some of his ability. As we go through the tale, we can see and even share some of his confusion about the world around him. There's plots, conflict, and cruelty around him, as he tries to figure out who to trust and how to become the man he once was. Also an interesting take on magic in this world. Promising first book in what could be an epic series. Recommended for those interested in the genre.
Narration is competent with good production value. For me though, there was just a tiny something that seemed to pull me out of the story at times. I don't know if it's how much time is spent speaking in a sort of growl or something else entirely. It's not something that would keep me from listening though.

Interesting world-building to start this series
The book uses some familiar elements like the amnesiac hero trying to regain their memories and the evolving of their character during that quest, but does it well and combines it with some interesting world-building to set things up for subsequent books in the series and not at the expense of delivering a complete story in this opening book either.
The narration worked well with this book, with the narrator delivering a clear performance that helped with the immersion and ensuring the characters were suitably distinctive.
Overall, an interesting opening book in this series that bodes well for subsequent ones.

very good book, awesome story if your in to this type of book. the nerator does an amazing job with the voices being every character to life. This story is one you can picture sitting and watching just like a movie which I believe it should be made it to or possible series. Well done
