The danger is real

I rarely take the time to offer reviews of books, but today I recognize the importance of voicing my opinion on a subject this important to everyone . Thank you, Liz Cheney, for your integrity and your leadership. It doesn’t surprise me that it took a strong woman like you to stand up for our democracy. I so appreciate your care for truth, research, and justice. I’m convinced that we must all do our best to ensure that Donald Trump never holds any public office ever again. Your book tells a clear and concise story for why this is so. We need more citizens like you in government positions.

How much planning went into January 6. It did not just happen.

Liz Chaney’s long experience and history working within our government are evident and so needed in this strange cult of resentment of Donald Trump. I am grateful for the careful work she has done. Donald Trump started his first job outside his family’s protective bubble with help from the Russians and had no where to go from there. There is nothing for him past the presidency and with cunning he will keep it by any means he can spin.
Liz Chaney is saying “No”. It is not an easy fight. This is an important book which should be read by all Americans. Our country’s future depends on it.

Liz could have titled this: “No job is worth sacrificing your honor for”

Riveting from the very beginning. Even though I knew much of what was in the book, having watched all the hearings, I still learned much. The audio clips are something you won’t get in the print version, and she used those effectively. Seeing the cowardice of so many Republicans who tell others privately what they won’t say aloud because they are fearful of retaliation from Trump or his misguided supporters reminds me of Benjamin Franklin’s words “We must all hang together or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.” That’s the problem with the Republicans. They aren’t banding together. Liz is no doubt anti-union, but it’s unions who’ve given workers the strength to succeed against powerful employers, Republicans who know in their hearts that Liz is right must band together and follow her courageous example and speak out before it’s too late. Thank you, Liz.

Straightforward, compelling, essential

I’m on opposite end of political spectrum from Liz Cheney but found this impossible to stop listening until the end. There’s no fluff or digression. She’s telling exactly what happened on 1/7 in a direct no- nonsense way that is full of clips from subpoenaed interviews, plus back room machinations that we’d never know otherwise. Compelling & essential read for our country at this moment of fake news and organized media trumpeting theories as facts. Here we find facts. I applaud her courage as a Republican in writing this in today’s GOP. She’s not caving in, oh for more Liz Cheneys — she’s got a spine. I’m amazed I’m writing a rave review of a Cheney but this book is not just well written & read but fundamental to our situation today.

Stunning!

Clear and concise account of the events of January 6, 2021 and the investigation by the January 6 committee. This is a gripping chronological account which includes behind the scenes details. Fantastic narration and inclusion of appropriate audio clips. It is a clear warning for the future.

Every person in this country needs to read this book. Thank you, Liz Cheney, for putting partisanship aside and making a personal sacrifice of your safety and career in order to protect this country.

Eloquent articulation of a Turbulent Time

Ms Cheney was masterful in telling this story. I was captivated, listening to her describe the incidents and happening of all that led up to and followed the casualty That was January 6.  Although I was aware and followed very closely, the Trump presidency and it’s messy aftermath, I still could not stop listening to her tale, which is our tale. She presented the information in such an interesting and enlightening way.  I have had great admiration and appreciation for the author, since I witnessed her participation as vice chair of the January 6 committee.  Although we may differ in our political affiliations, she is clearly a woman of integrity and purpose and dedication.  She is exactly the type of individual I would hope and pray would be representative of our government. Sadly, this is not the case, especially with todays Republican party. It is so vital that we have a strong and decent Republican and Democratic party.  we need both. It’s so important.
 She is brave and thoughtful. This is a must read book for anyone who wants to get a clear and unbiased explanation of what happened. And what we are now tasked to do. All of us and each of us. Thank you, Liz Cheney.
