Missing chapter 11?

Luckily I have the novel but this audio book is currently missing chapter 11. Chapter 10 is repeated in its place.

Fixed version

When I was first listening to this, it repeated one of the chapters. That has now been fixed and I can say that this is worth getting. I'm not used to Bruce Mackinnon, but he's not bad and I think he does well enough to show enough enthusiasm without going too over the top to be annoying like Robin Bowerman can be. The story itself is fine, but from what I have heard the series gets much better second book onwards.

passable

It was as though the writer didn't have a good grasp of 40k lore. Making the Ultramarines sound religious and all to human at times.

One of the best 40k stories ever

Out of all the 40k stories I've read and listened to this is by far the best one yet and it's also made me like the ultramarines more because of it. the storie is about captain Uriel Ventris of the ultramarines 4th company and this is his first campaign as captain.

Good.... but not at the same time

I'm pretty picky when it comes to stories so keep that in mind while reading this. the performance of this audio book is great so no complaints there. I have issues with how the space marines were depicted these are power armored behemoths that are all but immune to Las fire and yet they hesitate time and time again when they are up against PDF... yes not guardsmen..... PDF. and in one part of the book it's states that a laser shot melts part of uriel's breastplate. Not lore accurate. It's a bunch of little lore inaccuracies that get to me in this story and the amount of plot armor is....ridiculous. I now completely understand why the ultramarines are known as the ultrasmurffs. with writing like this it's hard not to thing of them as such.

Cringe

Predictable story and Eldar chapter reads like it was pulled from the worst teenage erotic fanfiction

Awesome!!!!

Enjoyed it the whole way through. A mix of terror, and Adrenaline mix with Good narration and story. Haven’t read a Warhammer 40k book like this in some time. DWW

Not a well written audio book.

The narrator did just fine, but over all the book doesn’t follow lore descriptions and does a poor job representing the 40k verse in my own opinion and the story also contradicts it’s self at a couple points. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anybody who is familiar with 40k.

Night bringer

Preposterous. A real waste of time. Just listened to it as sleep noise, that’s what it was. Not worth a credit.

Missing Chapter

It's literally missing an entire chapter. Chapter 10 is repeated twice and there is no chapter 11.

Really shouldn't have been this voice actor

I have heard this voice actor before in Warhammer books, not 40k books, and as a personal preference thing. I don't like him. I have night bringer as a book and love there story. This voice actor ruined it its almost unbearable to listen to. thumbs down on him sorry

Sort of ok

A little disappointed in the narration. Seems as though speed in delivery was irritating and really a space marine should have a deep voice. Story wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. There are better in this series.

Great story but basic facts wrong

Only downside to an otherwise good story is the constant reference to the god emperor and the worshiping of him by the space marines which is interly inaccurate for the astartes

Ultramarines being Ultramarines

The story is no nail biter full of mystery and Machiavellian machinations but it is a story of the boys in blue doing what they do best and we get inquisitor in disguise too, I enjoyed it but it not one I would listen to again, the narrator was new to me and he did a good job with all the right intonations and inflections

barely made it thru

i dont know if it was the narator or the story or a mix but this was by far my worst Warhammer 40k audiobook by far. Uriel seems to be a perfect candidate for conversion to the dark gods he is lackluster other than being cocky at times... in heresy times he would be a perfect traitor character you love to hate...

Great Book, Great Reader

Always loved this story and Bruce MacKinnon did a brilliant job of bringing it to life. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. I wish Heavy Entertainment produced all audiobooks.

Just wasn't a fan of the narration.

I remember reading this book as a kid and wanted to listen to the audio book as I remember the story being really good.

Narration is just way to fast. This book needed a deeper and grittier voice. Just wasn't feeling it.

Not for me...

Struggled to finish, not sure what was happening half the time or who was who. This wasn't for me, but those who like this genre will probably love it.
