Publisher's Summary

One cop's lie has set a killer free.

Four years after serial killer Rudy Cutter was sent away for life, San Francisco homicide inspector Frost Easton uncovers a terrible lie: his closest friend planted false evidence to put Cutter behind bars. When he's forced to reveal the truth, his sister's killer is back on the streets.

Desperate to take Cutter down again, the detective finds a new ally in Eden Shay. She wrote a book about Cutter and knows more about him than anyone. And she's terrified. Because for four years, Cutter has been nursing revenge day after stolen day.

Staying ahead of the game of a killer who's determined to strike again is not going to be easy. Not when Frost is battling his own demons. Not when the game is becoming so personal. And not when the killer's next move is unlike anything Frost expected.

EXCELLENT ! Leaves you wanting more!!!!!

This is another author who consistently writes good books. I don't think I have ever read anything written by him that I didn't like. Fortunately this book follows suit and is an excellent read.
Combine this with the Excellent narration by Joe Barrett and you can't go wrong! I really enjoy Barrett's style. He gets sarcasm and delivers flawlessly.
This book has a serial killer getting released from prison due to a police officer planting the evidence that got him convicted. Frost Easton was that cops partner. Although he can't officially work on the case because his sister was also a victim, he tries to get enough evidence on the man to send him back. There's no who done it in this book. It a great cat and mouse chase and because the killer begins killing again as soon as he's released. It's a race figure out who future victims might be and get to them before he does.
The last 1/2 hour gives one final jaw dropping twist.
If you have kindle unlimited the ebook is free and this audio book will cost you $1.99.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book.

Book 2 in the Frost Easton series

The combination of author Brian Freeman and narrator Joe Barrett is difficult to beat! The Voice Inside is very different from The Night Bird which is Book 1 in the Frost Easton series. This is an outstanding police procedural set in San Francisco. When I thought the novel was ending the story continued with a plot twist that identifies a second antagonist.

Brian Freeman Gets Better and Better

I loved this book, and it's the perfect winter comfort/thriller book. The premise hooked me in the very beginning and I had a hard time turning the book off to go to work. I love the details that Brian puts into his writing and that makes you feel like you're in the middle of the story. If you like murder mysteries, this is a great one with a bunch of twists and turns and things you anticipate, only to find out you were wrong. 100% worth the Audible credit.

Different style in good follow-up

This is the second book in the Brian Freeman Frost Easton series. It features the SF Homicide Inspector almost completely this round. In the first book of the series, he had a shared billing.
I enjoy the Brian Freeman and Joe Barrett team of author and narrator very much, with this being no exception.
The plot was a bit of a stretch, but I still enjoyed the story and was glued to my headphones until the end.

Storytelling at its finest

If you like mystery, you’ll love Brian Freeman. Great storylines and it’s easy to imagine the story as it unfolds. I wish they’d make movies! Joe Barrett is a wonderful reader, perfect voice for Freeman’s characters.

What a GREAT BOOK/THRILLER BRIAN

I loved this book! Brian you absolutely write the best OMG endings! I know I’m saying this before anything in the beginning..but it was “OMG I HAD NO IDEA ——DID THIS

So now you know how much I loved “The Voice Inside: Book 2” and after what I read I am completely expecting Book 3! There’s no getting around this one!

So we have Detective Frost Easton at another fascinating mystery that involves a family member. He’s completely 100% into this because of that. Due to an issue another detective did, left a hole in the investigation. Frost knows it & his gut tells him he can’t do anything about it. It’s pretty much not a spoiler here because the killer is known pretty much right away but...just read it 👍

So Frost puts his entire life on hold to get this “killer” caught...but an unexpected visitor gets deep into his life...as well as another, very cool on that one 😂😂

I will not spoil this for anyone except I am always surprised at Brian Freeman’s books. They enthrall you with every listen or read. Every page, and every listening chapter is something you just can’t put down. I actually had to re read a couple of chapters because I was so shocked! You’ll love it! It deserves more than 5 ⭐️ and I highly recommend it for all over 18 yrs due to graphic violence and a few F bombs but nothing bad at all... As far as narration Joe Barrett, I don’t dislike him but his voice doesn’t change a lot with characters so at times I thought I was listening to one character when it was another. Also it can be monotonous at times, but at other times he is “scary good!”

Thank you Brian, as usual!! Definitely reading again!! 👊

Listen to This One!

This is my second book by Brian Freeman. I have enjoyed both of the stories. As usual, Joe Barrett is outstanding and makes a good story into great entertainment and a night of lost sleep 😴.
