Publisher's Summary

It's summer in Memphis. The sweat is sticking to Rudy Baylor's shirt and creditors are nipping at his heels. Once he had aspirations of breezing through law school and punching his ticket to the good life. Now he doesn't have a joy or a prayer...except for one: an insurance dispute that leaves a family devastated and opens the door for a lawsuit, if Rudy can find a way to file it. By the time Rudy gets to court, a heavyweight corporate defense team is there to meet him. And suddenly he's in over his head, plunged into a nightmare of lies and legal maneuverings. A case that started small is exploding into a thunderous million-dollar war of nerves, skill, and outright violence - a fight that could cost one young lawyer his life, or turn him into the biggest rainmaker in the land....

Wonderfully varied and filled with excitement

This is one of the most exciting legal dramas I have ever read. It is filled with varied stories, all told from the perspective of a new, young lawyer. There's drama, both personal and legal, and lots of interesting characters. It's a great story for anyone, regardless of whether their law enthusiasts or not.

Loved it

I loved this book. The story is still relevant. It has intrigue, mystery, excitement and throughly captures the listener. The court room scenes are tremendous. I believe narration is award winning, making the book a success.

Best Grisham I've read/heard so far!

This was a near perfect novel for me! It had mystery, intrigue and most of all, a good narrator. Frank Muller has the perfect cadence, timing and tone! He reads with a wry wit and has great inflection that a John Grishom novel needs. It is a " feel good" David and Goliath story! It does sound a bit dated in a few places, but that didn't bother me at all , after all it was written over 10 years ago. If you love a good courtroom tale, then you need to get this book! It has renewed my interest in them, and also leaves me to want to download another by this author. Luckily, I think Mr. Muller does most, if not all his books, though I've never felt the need to publish a review. It has minor swearing, which I'm sensitive too, so that didn't bother either. Ii I would make one criticism, it would be for Audible, someone needs to edit this book! It has many places that repeat, and one time it even mentions to change the c.d. ! Still minor imperfections when it comes to how I feel about this book! Go get it!

Excellent

I love John Grisham but i chose this book because of the length of it and the voice of the narrator. I will look for more books that Frank Muller narrates.

Great performance but weak ending to story

Frank Muller did a wonderful job bringing this story to life! And the story was great all the way until the near end - without giving anything away the ending felt like a cop-out. But worth a credit to get to enjoy 95% of this book.

Great road trip book!

This book was so exciting and the characters were clever! The narrator did a great job with the voices and made me feel like I could escape into this story while on a long road trip down the coast of California.
