Publisher's Summary

With unmatched suspense and emotional insight, Harlan Coben explores the big secrets and little lies that can destroy a relationship, a family, and even a town in this powerful new thriller.

Suburban New Jersey Detective Napoleon "Nap" Dumas hasn't been the same since senior year of high school, when his twin brother Leo and Leo's girlfriend Diana were found dead on the railroad tracks - and Maura, the girl Nap considered the love of his life, broke up with him and disappeared without explanation. For fifteen years, Nap has been searching, both for Maura and for the real reason behind his brother's death. And now, it looks as though he may finally find what he's been looking for.

When Maura's fingerprints turn up in the rental car of a suspected murderer, Nap embarks on a quest for answers that only leads to more questions - about the woman he loved, about the childhood friends he thought he knew, about the abandoned military base near where he grew up, and mostly about Leo and Diana - whose deaths are darker and far more sinister than Nap ever dared imagine.

"Book 10 in Coben's Indistinguishable series"

All Coben's books are basically the same. Even after re-reading the book summaries I can barely remember anything about them. I listen to them. They're two parts amusing and one part frustrating. And then when they're done they disappear from memory forever. This one is no different.

The good news is that if you like all the other Coben books then you'll like this one, too.

    "Exceptional Coben"

Great story. Harlan Coben writes wonderfully realistic dialogue with his customary acerbic edge. I also was impressed with this narrator's ability. He read with the feeling of the character and his reading flowed well unlike some other narrator's with their halting reading.

    "Another Stunner by Mr. Coben"

Another terrific suspenseful thriller by harlan Coben. The story is intricately woven and is a great read. The narrator nailed the mood and the performance overall is better than a Broadway play up to the stunning conclusion. I could not wait to finish, but am now depressed that the book is through. It will be tough to find another book that can top the story and narration!

    "Excellent"

One of Coben’s best. As his books so often do, this one ends with a surprising twist.

Don’t start this until you have plenty of time. You won’t want to stop listening.

"So bad - I don’t know where to begin"

This book is bad on so many levels. An hour to go and I just don’t care.

Without giving anything away - Here’s a couple problems.

The main character is talking to his brother through the whole book. His dead brother. His dead brother from 15 years ago.

He’s still pining over some girl that he dated in high school 15 years ago. Then when they see each other again - They get right after it and recognize their undying love for each other. Uhhh - I can’t tell who’s more effeminate. The girl - The Guy- Or Harlan Coben for writing this silliness. I’m going with Harlan

Of course there is the typical getting held hostage and being miraculously saved gig -That’s a must for every bad book. If you listen to that part, somebody tell me how this person that was supposedly kidnapped by the same person broke loose and saved this guy.. Because it doesn’t explain it in the book. Or maybe it does and I stopped caring.

    I won’t go on.

    "Kept me guessing "

Great book. I love the way this author writes. His character is colorful in discription to say the lease. Humor and very thrilling. Not the norm for me as far as thrillers goes and I’m delighted to say it was refreshing!
I would recommend this to any reader, into thrillers or not.
