Publisher's summary

An ordinary snapshot causes a mother’s world to unravel in an instant. After picking up her two young children from school, Grace Lawson looks through a newly developed set of photographs. She finds an odd one in the pack: A mysterious picture from perhaps twenty years ago, showing four strangers she can’t identify. But there is one face she recognizes—that of her husband, from before she knew him.

When her husband sees the photo that night, he leaves their home and drives off without explanation. She doesn’t know where he’s going, or why he’s leaving. Or if he’s ever coming back. Nor does she realize how dangerous the search for him will be. Because there are others interested in both her husband’s past and that photo, including Eric Wu: A fierce, silent killer who will not be stopped from finding his quarry, no matter who or what stands in his way.

Her world turned upside down, filled with doubts about her herself and marriage, Grace must confront the dark corners of her own tragic past as she struggles to learn the truth, find her husband, and save her family.

Narrative review mixed

Male parts were good. Female narrative too harsh and almost angry but when in character the female voice was pretty good. Great story. Never suspected the twists at the end.

Narration is tough

Not my favorite Harlem Coben story, good-ish twist but not the best reveal for the master of reveals. The narrator was tough to listen to, I almost returned the book because of it multiple times.

Narrator

The male voice was good but I didn’t care for the female narrator. I enjoyed the storyline.

Narrator

I love this authors books but I couldn’t finish this one. The female narrator was awful when she was speaking the non person parts. Her voice was awful. I gave up and gave it a 3 because like this author but sad to say I couldn’t finish it

great story, poor reading performance

great novel by Coben, but the female reader read the story like each sentence was not related to any other sentence. very strange inflections in her voice. she over-enunciates each word and gives improper raising of voice at end of every sentence.

Careful in future

I will never listen to an audible by Angela Dawe as her cadence is too distracting and cannot be tuned out. The plot was clever yet so contrived with so many characters that at the end you just don't accept the possibility it could have happened.

I should have listened to the other reviews

What would have made Just One Look better?

The book would be better if there was someone other than Angela Dawe reading. As soon as I hear her performance I realized the other reviewers where so right.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Just One Look?

I'm only 2 hours in and struggling to finish.

Would you be willing to try another one of Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels ’s performances?

Luke did a great job but I will never try another book done by Angela.

Any additional comments?

I would highly recommend re recording this book with a different female voice. She raises her voice at the end of the sentences - makes her sound like she is whining.
