Loved it !! this story. the narrator is so fantastic it's like your really there!! After listening to this story,. I totally enjoyed reading this book. It’s well written and the characters were uniquely fantastic. I would suggest this book to my friends that like this sort of genera. this was a good book. The narration was great.

Mr. Wrong Becomes Mr. Right

Ashley Drayton is looking for a stable, safe guy after one too many bad boy breaks her heart until she meets Zach Kincaid, a rodeo man. He's everything she doesn’t want, but she falls for him anyway.

Ashley was the kind of woman Zach was not looking for—a socialite with a wish list for the perfect man. He wasn’t in the market for a wife, but he can’t stop thinking about her.

Ashley discovers Mr. Wrong...just might be Mr. Right, and Zach finds out there’s a lot more depth to her than he realized. This story has plenty of heart and heat with a satisfying happily-ever-after that I couldn’t put down.

Didn't like the h

I didn't like the heroine and I feel like she was shallow and didn't deserve the H at all. *Spoiler alert* She's looking for a man that will satisfy her narcissistic mother's requirements and goes on a date with this man but ends up (not for the first time) sleeping with the H, her "friend" with benefits. If her "perfect man" weren't gay (he had all the stereotypical markings, which is terrible writing) she would have been easily cheating and the book would have had a different ending. the Narrator started with a southern accent for the h, then both the h and H had accents, then neither. overall, she did a good job with the voices, just leave off the accents if you can't be consistent.

Western Romance with Hot Cowboys and Strong Women

The Texas Kincaids series by Indi author Bonnie Phelps. begins with “My Rodeo Man” as Ashley decides it is past time to put some distance between her and her controlling mother who seems to be influencing her to get involved with all the wrong men. Her mother’s fixation on social standing has led Ashley to date a string of selfish bad boys, the latest nearly emptying her bank account before leaving her. So Ashley makes the decision to leave North Carolina for San Antonio where her good friend Lauren, has offered to help her get settled and is confident her smart and pragmatic friend Ashley will make much better choices on her own.

The two women are out dancing when they meet up with Kincaid brothers Nate and Zach. No one can deny the gene pool runs hot in the looks department for the men of the Kincaid clan, but Ashley is determined not to get involved with another good looking bad boy. No more risk takers for her, she wants a man with a solid plan for the future. A man who competes on the Rodeo circuit, no matter how fine looking, is too much of a risk to her way of thinking.

So why is she so drawn to to the handsome rodeo man?

This book is outside my usual reading genres, but it’s good to try something different once in awhile and I love a spicy romance peopled in characters you can bond with, someone who’s story you want to hear all the way to the satisfying ending. This author uses descriptions that make the scenes come into focus while keeping the story moving, making the book light and satisfying. Like many books I really enjoy, I both read the ebook and listened to this recently released audio edition. The narration is good with the reader’s skillful use of distinct character voices and authentic regional accents adding to the color of the story. Best of all, when you finish and want more is to find it is a series with four more stories already available including #2 “My Sexy Veterinarian (the story of Lauren and Nate) already out on audio.

Something about the wrong guy

Ashley has uprooted her life and was looking to make new roots in Texas. But Texas had its bad apples also. The stable wealthy man her mother wants for is not what she wants for self. Ashley likes bad boys. But the bad boys keep taking her for a ride. And any other woman that may take his fancy. Then she meets Zach. The wrong type of guy for her.

Zach is a rodeo/rancher/bad boy. He is not on the hunt for long term anything. He finds himself very much intrigued by Ashley. Her list for a suitable partner not so much.

With every encounter the chemistry and pull to each other strengthens. It’s clear to she wrong partner becomes that something more.

Erika Annette was an even smooth voice that for the most part complemented the characters.

Delightful!

Ashley Drayton is basically a southern debutante whose mother is hanging tightly to societal expectations from a family with money and standing. She has fed constant advice to Ashley, but after another disaster of a relationship, she's ready to escape. Her best friend, Lauren, lives in San Antonio and she shows her a different kind of life. Zach Kincade is a rodeo champion who normally evades a beautiful Southern Belle, but once he gets to know her he realizes that she might be just what he needs. Ashley still hears the advice and rules that her mother set for her and Zach is going to break through some walls for her to see him as the strong and confident cowboy that he is. This story is perfectly paced and both Ashley and Zach are multi-layered characters and their HEA is perfect.
I listened to the audio of this book and Erika Annette does an excellent job with the narration. Her clear, dynamic voice, solid pace and inflection give each character a distinct personality and attitude as she brings them to life.

Too robotic for me.

I tried to like this, but it was just too dull for me. Very ‘telling’ writing style, very predictable and unoriginal.

A plot that I’ve read and watched 1000 times before.

Not for me.
