Publisher's summary

Josephine Wilder’s torrid love affair is with Tangle Valley Vineyard, her family’s legacy. She’s grown up dreaming between the vines. She’s always had secret ideas about how to make the place shine, so when it passes to her, Joey vows to make Tangle Valley everything she knows it can be. Her biggest obstacle? That overly commercial hotel going up, and the uppity manager trying to kill the vineyard’s rustic charm.

Becca Crawford loves to unwind with a good glass of wine. An astute business woman who has climbed the hospitality ladder, she’s the perfect person to head up Elite Resorts’ newest property, The Jade Hotel, and give tourists all the luxury they desire. As a bonus, The Jade is not far from the cutest vineyard with the best pinot she’s ever tasted. If only the captivating owner would get on board with her plan and stop badmouthing the hotel to everyone in town.

Is it possible that a nice glass of red could help Becca and Joey see each other in a new and alluring light?

Good story, performance issue

I liked this audiobook a lot and overall appreciated Melissa Sternenberg’s performance, but I was massively irritated by the repeated mispronunciation of Oregon’s major river valley, the Willamette. (The name is used many times in the text and Sternenberg mispronounces it every time; at least she’s consistent in how she does it.) I’ve run into this issue before in audiobooks by other performers and wish it were routinely addressed somehow prior to production. Place names can be difficult to get right without local knowledge,
but it’s jarring to hear performers massacre the names of places you know and love.

Wine Entangled with Romance

What a combination! I just adored the characters in this story definitely the mains but also my favorite character of all time Gabriela. Joey has a hard time and an even harder time believing in herself. Beca the well put together executive is the stabilization in the relationship. Madison the wine maker extraordinarie and best friend of Joey.
As a wine lover myself this story truly resonated. I thoroughly recommend this book and I am not surprised it won awards.

Brayden captivating, narration challenging

The opening paragraphs reminded me why I enjoy Melissa Brayden's writing, the way she paints the scenes and animates the heart-rich characters. Tangle Valley is an idyllic locale, and immediately I wanted to visit. The small-town characters are charming, and so perhaps I would like to live in that lovely community. Overall, I enjoy spending time in the worlds Melissa Brayden creates.

I had listened to all of Brayden's tales up to To the Moon and Back, with the Soho Loft series still my absolute favorite (different narrator). I adore Brayden's writing, but I had such problems with Sternenberg's narration. I kept thinking, just one more, but the narration was just too hard. Look, Sternenberg has a velvety tone, so that's good. But there's very little variance between character voices (pacing, tone, inflection) so I can't follow the dialogue. And male characters sound too much like femaie vocal registers. And the emotional range seems confined. So I stopped Brayden books for a couple years because the narration just doesn't work for me.

One good sale and I picked up the Tangle Valley series, because, well, I still adore Brayden's writing. I was captivated from the beginning. I appreciate the characters, the scenes, and the rich descriptors of daily life. So if you are okay with the narration, you will enjoy the book.

Enjoyable story

The story was low key and enjoyable. I liked he characters. The performer was very good, but I marked down a star for not checking how to pronounce Willamette. Also, marked down a star for story because is was phrased wrong. It is "the Willamette Valley", not just "Willamette Valley" like you would say a city name or state name. But that's all nitpicking. I had an enjoyable time listening. I do recommend listening at 0.9 or even 0.85 speed. The narrator reads much faster than other narrators on Audible; too fast to follow unless you are focusing just on the reading and nothing else.

Good start

looking forward to more....
good setup for #2.
But conflict could have been better
if it only takes a conversation to get to HEA, it's a bit weak.
but this author is becoming a favorite.
