Publisher's summary

Includes the bonus prequel My First Glance as well as a bonus epilogue!

A one-night stand is supposed to end once the sun rises. Only it doesn’t always work out that way in this opposites-attract-and-tortured-hero romance.

I never expected this.

I didn’t want to go to another fraternity party, but when my friend pulls me in, I somehow find myself hiding in a corner with...him.

Dillon Connolly.

The smirking, so-called good guy with the shadows in his eyes. A single glance, a sweet smile, and I let myself have one night of giving in. Only I have to promise myself not to fall in love. No matter the cost.

I never expected her.

Elise Hoover haunts my dreams more than I care to admit. I never thought I stood a chance - until she said yes.

When a single night turns to two, I know I’m in over my head, but somehow, she makes me believe I can have anything. Until the sun rises, and my past along with it.

I thought I’d run from the problems that could hurt us both, but now I’m falling for her, and I can’t stop. I know I don’t deserve her, but now I have to fight to keep her...or save her from myself.

Beautiful

Omg Dillion you met in fractured connections series. This is Dillons story. ELISE AND DILLON OMG the chemistry and the way they came together is absolutely amazing. I really enjoy this story and how it was written. The feels and plot twists had me turning the page more in delight. Carrie Ann just pulls you in with her story and you there until the last page.

Narration Emma Wilder and Tor Thom did amazing with this story. I couldn't stop listening to the performance they did. I cannot wait to listen to again.

Great start to a new series

This first book of this spin off series was a good book to start this new series. In this book, we get Dillion's story who we met in the Fractured Connections series and Elise. Their story is set at college where they are both learning to find their way and determine their future.

Dillion, who we know from the previous series that he appeared in, has not had the best in life. He has spread his wings and has gone off to college where he has four roommates and a vague plan on what he wants to do with his life.

Elise, a quiet introvert from on over protective family sees Dillion around campus and after accepting a dare from her roommate and best friend steps out of her comfort zone and has a one night stand that turns into more.

There are a few twists, a past that needs to be reconciled, a tragedy and a hard path to finding their HEA but this well written story does come out on the other side. The pair have amazing chemistry together and where I was happy to see Dillion get his story and the introduction of new characters, I also enjoyed the return of all of the Connolly siblings and the ability to catch up with them after their individual stories. Where the next book in this series is not about a family member but one of the roommates, I still am looking forward to seeing where this series is going to go.

The narration by Emma Wilder and Tor Thom was performed well and made for an enjoyable listening experience. The pair did a great job bringing this story to life. Overall, this was a good read that I would recommend to others.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 Riveting & Heartfelt

This is a fabulous start to a new series, the story drew me right in, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire book. Carrie Ann Ryan is one of my favorite authors and it is always great to see another side of her brilliantly creative mind in this contemporary new adult college romance. The characters and storylines are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the two lead characters Dillon Connolly and Elise Hoover, college students not looking for a relationship, but the chemistry between them is electric and undeniably strong. This is a beautifully written and plotted romance story, loved watching these two grow closer as their relationship blossomed. There are some great secondary characters and storylines going on, also loved meeting Dillon’s family, I have not had the pleasure to start her “Fractured Connections” series yet but I will have to rectify that soon. Carrie Ann Ryan, thank you for another wonderful story & emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to what comes next in this series.

🎧📚🎧 And for the narration, Emma Wilder and Tor Thom are wonderfully talented narrators and voice artists. They were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, they gave each a voice that fit for that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the character’s emotions and project them into their performance. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Really Enjoyed This Story

I was also young when I found my one true love. So this hit close to home in a good way.

I found this book series a little late so I was trying to figure out how all the guys and girls clicked in the long run. It was quite interesting to see the line up of the other books after meeting all the characters here.

I told the author on social media she was not nice for a couple of the events in the book though lol

In the special epilogue at the end she ties in a couple characters from her Montgomery Ink aerie and that was fun! Makes me want to listen to them even more now!

Narrators:
Tor Thom —this man has a great speaking voice as long as he is American. He is not so great at the English accents. Just makes me cringe. His voice is super deep too so it’s kind of hard to picture him as a 20 year old kid. Other than those minor points he did a fantastic job being the characters to life and really immersing you in the story.

Emma Wilder: I love her voice and acting skills. She really dives head long into a book and performs as if she is on stage. Her inflections really make you feel like she os going through exactly what the characters are. He male voice is wonderful and doesn’t take you out of the story at all. ❤️

Sweet and hearwarming NA romance with an edge!

Wonderful start to the series! All the emotions, surprising plot twists, and solid character development I’ve come to expect in a Carrie Ann Ryan novel. Dillon was just as amazing and thoughtful as I’d hoped for. I was thrilled that he finally got his own story! It was also super fun to see how his brothers and their wives are doing, their family dynamic is so heartwarming to read. I loved the way both groups of friends are set up and linked, the boys and the girls. There’s a lot of promise for the next books in the series. I like the way all the secondary characters are written, likable and intriguing. Elise is smart, sweet, and a bit of an overthinker. She’s a great match for Dillon. They are both still young, but earnest and determined to make something of their lives. Their upbringing has been very different, but when it comes down to it, they both have loving families they can turn to. Even if Elise’s parents needed a rather tragic catalyst to make them understand what’s important in life. I was stunned at that particular twist myself. And if that wasn’t enough, someone from Dillon’s past comes out of the woodworks … and not exactly with good intentions. Dillon and Elise are young but are not spared from heartache and troubles before finding love and happiness together.

Narration: Emma Wilder and Tor Thom are brilliant narrators both, and they did a wonderful job with their performance of this story. The way they brought the characters to life really lifted the story to an even higher level. I really enjoyed the audio for this book, enchanting and gripping both.

Dillion’s Story!

This is the first of the series. We finally get Dillion’s book! Dillon Connelly is now getting his own HEA after being part of his three older brother stories. We first met the youngest Connelly in the Fractured Connection Series. He is the wise younger brother that his brothers turned too when they needed advice.

However once Dillion begins college and strikes out on his own, he finds it hard to follow his own advice. He finds himself dealing with more hurdles than he ever imagined. College brings not only learning to multi task but also girls and parties all the normal adventures young people experience and enjoy.

However one thing he didn’t bargain for was Elise and she didn’t bargain on him. They both are driven and want to succeed but they will have to overcome things they never expected and might need each other more than either one wants to admit.

Overall, I throughly enjoyed this read I loved Dillion from the first time we met him in Cameron’s story. The author is amazing as always. Her stories draw you in and you can always count on a HEA. She’s my go to when I want a wonderful read. Definitely recommend.

The narrators were a perfect choice.

An emotional journey

Their one night was supposed to be just that. One night only. But that never works out in romance books. And when the roommates all become friends, it's hard for them not to be together. They go to the same college. They go to the same coffee shop. So of course they're going to fall in love, but their journey will be rocky. So many things will happen to each of them individually and to both of them as a couple.

This is a story of growing up, not physically, but emotionally. Living on their own, learning tough life lessons and figuring out what it is they really want.

Tor Thom and Emma Wilder did such an amazing job with this story. Five women and five men and having to come up with personas for each of them. Yes, Dillon and Elise are the main characters in this story, but all ten people are involved in this story.
