As the girls all pitch in, Rose is thrilled that the tea-and-fish-themed kickoff event is perfect, not a herring out of place. That is until Dorothy’s date is found dead—face-planted in an otherwise scrumptious-looking cheesecake. With every guest a suspect (especially Dorothy) and a marriage on the line, the four besties must ID the real killer, get the should-be-happy couple down the aisle, and make sure nobody from St. Olaf gets lost in the wilds of Miami. It’s up to the Golden Girls to sleuth out a way for friendship and love to win the day!

True to Golden Girls

Stayed true to the storyline of Golden Girls with great nuggets from previous stories! Wish it had a little more plot development for possible suspects, but very good :).

I absolutely love the Golden Girl's! This author captured each character perfectly. The story felt like watching a new episode of the Golden Girl's all over again! simply perfect ☺️

A dream come true!

This book was SO FUN and just like watching the show, but with the addition of a murder to solve. The humor and cozy mystery elements blend together perfectly, and all of the characters are true to their originals. I debated over whether to get the ebook or the audiobook, but I'm glad I chose to go with audio - the narrator does an amazing job with all the voices, and I can't wait for more!

Meh

First off, I love The Golden Girls, I go back to the era of seeing the entire show first-run on network TV. Second, I love a good cozy mystery. Third, I am very forgiving of TV adaptations as long as they stay true to the source. So, the good? The narrator does a very good job at capturing the voices and spirits of the main characters, especially Sophia and Blanche, although Rose and Dorothy are always readily recognizable. The plot is serviceable for a cozy mystery, but nothing really standout. The not so good? I lost interest about half-way through and had to remind myself repeatedly to go back and finish the book out of respect to the source material. It's just overall bland. The sparkling comedic interactions that are the hallmark of this show are not present, not even merely twinkling comedic interactions. I'm not sure I had even one good belly laugh the entire book (although I might have missed something in the second half as I was only partly paying attention for long stretches). I've read this is to be a series of books, along the lines of Murder She Wrote's long running book series. I had high hopes, but instead I'll watch the reviews for the next installment and see what impressions are before buying another in this series. I'd normally give this book 2 stars, but bumped it up one for a good effort, although, IMO, if falls very short of what it inspires to follow.

Takes me back

I adored this book. Its really captured the essence of the original GG’s! It was like like I was listening to the script of a long-lost episode that was never filmed.
I hope we get more GG’s stories from this author.
And great job to the narrator. Yvonne Newman did an amazing job with giving each girl their unique flare that I could imagine each line coming from the original cast.

The author stayed true to the characters that we know and love. Same Hijinx were used to from the ladies as well.
