New York Times best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones presents the first part of her heart-pounding thriller series of a woman's secrets - and a past that's about to come out of hiding....

As an FBI profiler, it's Lilah Love's job to think like a killer. And she is very good at her job. When a series of murders surface - the victims all stripped naked and shot in the head - Lilah's instincts tell her it's the work of an assassin, not a serial killer. But when the case takes her back to her hometown in the Hamptons and a mysterious but unmistakable connection to her own life, all her assumptions are shaken to the core.

Thrust into a troubled past she's tried to shut the door on, Lilah's back in the town where her father is mayor, her brother is police chief, and she has an intimate history with the local crime lord's son, Kane Mendez. The two share a devastating secret, and only Kane understands Lilah's own darkest impulses. As more corpses surface, so does a series of anonymous notes to Lilah, threatening to expose her. Is the killer someone in her own circle? And is she the next target?

While I enjoy many book series, I think that it is pure greed that ends a book in the manner in which this one ended. Why can't you at least finish a scene?
I won't be purchasing any other titles from this author.

I don’t believe I have read Lisa Renee Jones but romantic suspense books are my absolute favorite!! I really enjoy the way Murder Notes just goes full force like a locomotive! The plot is great and develops slowly... all while slowly lining up the pieces and players. I’m fascinated with the way Miss Jones feeds us clues. I’m a serious addict with FBI Files and criminal shows and this series just combined reading (listening) with my favorite shows!

Now there are a ton of characters, and I’ll be completely honest, there were a few that I never really had a grasp on who they were. So if you listen, play close attention because I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of characters tossed at me.

The narrator, Madeleine Maby is precisely how I envision Lilah Love. She’s a bit monotone and aloft but when she speaks to those she loves, her emotions teeter a bit and bare themselves in her voice. While she’s normally cool and collected Kane can pull the emotions from her. It’s honestly one of the best character developments I’ve heard with a narrator. I wouldn’t have minded more emotions, more voice and tone variations bit I don’t think she would have been true to the character if she did.

Good story and narration!

It didn't end. Cliff hangers hard to follow when time is not on your side. But still enjoyed.

CLIFF HANGER

I like the story but give the cliffhangers a break. several. It seems the books are getting shorter just to allow for the cliffhangers. I've now listened to five but if it's the same cliffhangers cycle in the next book I won't waste my money any more.

Finish a story line

I found the main character to be a bit over the top with nastiness. Strong women are strong because they persevere through challenging situations and come out of it a little stronger. To portray a woman as nasty, offended by everything male, and see’s every gesture as an insult is not an accurate portrayal at all. To me that depicts weakness, insecurity, and a massive misunderstanding of the true meaning of strength.

Strong woman don’t need to be nasty!
