She keeps house for Inspector Witherspoon...and keeps him on his toes. Everyone's awed by his Scotland Yard successes - but they don't know about his secret weapon. No matter how messy the murder or how dirty the deed, Mrs. Jeffries' polished detection skills are up to the task...proving that behind every great man, there's a woman - and that a crime solver's work is never done.

A two-story killer.

Train enthusiast Francis Humphreys took his last breath while relatives and neighbors visited downstairs. But if everyone was downstairs, who could have stolen into Uncle Francis's study, killed him, and escaped? Mrs. Jeffries will have to lend her downstairs common sense to this upstairs murder mystery.

Another real stunner!!

I love the story lines and the character development!! The plot was amazing and all the while I was listening, I was getting closer to the right solution! My only criticism is Wiggins’ voice was too highly pitched. He’s no longer just a lad but a man so maybe his voice could be a bit deeper ?

Narrator Jennifer M Dixon is interpreting the voices of younger characters HIGH PITCHED SQUEEK, unpleasant to endure

I have enjoyed this long run Mrs. Jeffries series. Even when the narrators of this series changed. I perceived the sense of the characters remained true to the authors interpretation and very enjoyable, EXCEPT that this narrator uses HIGH PITCHED SCREECH for younger characters. This talented Narrator, Jennifer M Dixon, is interpreting the voices of younger characters, such as Betsy and Wiggins, as well as others, as PAINFULLY HIGH PITCHED . Her voice tone just for these voices is unpleasantly high pitched, whiney and screeching for these character’s dialogues. I know voice tone appeal is unique to each individual so others may find it tolerable. I find it painful. Sad, as i am enjoying this author’s work and will miss following her work

Story, yes. Narration, no.

No more audiobooks. NO MORE. I will buy these books on ebay and read them. I love the stories, I have skipped parts of chapters because I just cannot listen to the extreme high squeak/squaking that the narrator has assigns to some of the characters. The highest pitch is the 20-some year old footman, who has an ear-splitting voice that makes me run to skip all of his conversations.

It’s okay

As much as I like these books, the voice of Wiggins drives me crazy. I will go back to the written words for these.
