The peaceful slumber of the Worcester village of Rudge-in-the-Vale is about to be rudely disrupted. First there’s a bitter feud between peppery Colonel Wyvern and the Squire of Rudge Hall, rich but miserly Lester Carmody. Second, that arch-villain Chimp Twist has opened a health farm, and he and Soapy and Dolly Molloy are planning a fake burglary so Lester can diddle his insurance company. After the knockout drops are served, things get a little complicated. But will Lester’s nephew, John, win over his true love, Colonel Wyvern’s daughter Pat, and restore tranquility to the idyll? It’s a close-run thing....

The story was very good. Convoluted and detailed, but then all comes out to make sense. The narration by Jonathan Cecil is very good. I’m only giving it a four out of five stars as in the overall review, in comparison to some other and even better Wodehouse stories. But it is excellent!

Another good Wodehouse

This story is most descriptive of people, location and actions within that you feel you are Watching a movie. Fav part?
The line describing the men exercising and charging admission to see it.

I can’t get enough of PGW - his paragraph length adjectives are remarkably unique! One of his best outside Wooster.

Wonderful!

If I were grading this book I'd give it a "B." It's worth listening to. The narrator, Jonathan Cecil, raises the quality of the story by an irritated, upper-crust accent. Cecil is at his best doing the voice of the Sargent-Major, who is decidedly not upper-crust yet is (in my opinion) the funniest character in the book. A fun entertainment.

Good, Worthwhile, Although Not Wodehouse's Best

I'm so glad that I decided to read all PGWs works from the beginning or I might have missed this gem.
