The story:

Each faction fights for dominance of a potent artefact, the Blade Petrific, said to be wrought by the Emperor Himself. Yet there is more at work here than a mere ideological schism, for Mephiston believes Divinatus Prime could offer answers to how he became the Lord of Death, he who resisted the Black Rage, and possibly even a way to end the curse of ‘the Flaw’ in all Blood Angels.

not great

good 40k story but thought the story was a bit thin , seemed to drag a bit in the middle but not bad

Good, but...

Good story overall. I was a bit disappointed with mephiston"s character development as he's a 1 dimensional Mary Sue. If his attitudes and were better characterized I could have enjoyed it more, instead he came across like batman. Always 2 steps ahead of every other character with no decerable reason for why. His flaw is slowly killing him, but it isn't doing anything permanent to the story, its just something to make him seem even more complicated when he isnt. I felt more could have been done with him.

Great for 40K and especially Blood Angels fans. One of the greatest heroes of the Blood Angels in his own story. Excellently actors

I had a hard time getting into this story, It was ok, and the narration was fine, but my .ind kept wandering because there wasnt anything to keep me interested. I finally threw in the towel at chapter ten and quit, YMMV but it just wasn't for me.

Maybe my expectations were too high going into this one...

About myself, I’ve played Games Workshop games for 15 years or so and really enjoy the 40k setting and lore. After starting to collect Blood Angels I though it would stoke the fire in me to learn more about the chapter and it’s epic heroes.

This book just putters along with a mostly boring plot delivered from the perspective of cardboard grunts with very little depth

Mephiston has a couple fun scenes but mostly this novel is a snoozer.

I understand it’s a challenge to write space marines but GW did it much better in the early Horus Heresy novels.

Voice actor was mostly good but occasionally would do these over the top crazy person voices that were quite jarring and seemed to cause the audio to be much louder each time he switched voice.

The worst narrator I’ve ever heard. Sounds like a Disney character. Disappointed. I thought it would be better

40k blood angels have the best narrative stories in my opinion. I can’t wait to hear more of this amazing story.

Great Story Telling

Absolutely love they added the black library books now. Its a hugh collection that I dont have the resources to read and store all these books. Each one is fantastic with great imagery
