Eliza Spalding Warren was just a child when she was taken hostage by the Cayuse Indians during a massacre in 1847. Now the young mother of two children, Eliza faces a different kind of dislocation; her impulsive husband wants them to make a new start in another territory, which will mean leaving her beloved home and her departed mother's grave - and returning to the land of her captivity.
Eliza longs to know how her mother, an early missionary to the Nez Perce Indians, dealt with the challenges of life with a sometimes difficult husband and with her daughter's captivity. When Eliza is finally given her mother's diary, she is stunned to find that her own memories are not necessarily the whole story of what happened. Can she lay the dark past to rest and move on? Or will her childhood memories always hold her hostage?

This chapter is brought to life in Memory Weaver. Beyond the massacre, the story tells about the Spaulding family, fellow missionaries in Washington Territory, and about their young daughter who escaped death by remaining hidden during the massacre.
This book was is an accurate portrayal of pioneer life in the Great Northwest from the 1840s up to the Civil War years, a time when covered wagons dotted the plains, and when territories started reaching for statehood.
Accurate historical events put in excellent story form.

I thought the narration was great, the two narrators made the book interesting. One does the mothers dairy the other her daughter's life. They gave true compassion to the story, the character voices were good, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. There are no background noise, no repeating of words just a clear audio that is very enjoyable. There normal voices are very pleasant to listen to. I look forward to listening to more of their work.
