Mollie Sheehan has spent much of her life striving to be a dutiful daughter and honor her father's wishes, even when doing so has led to one heartbreak after another. After all, what options does she truly have in 1860s Montana? But providing for her stepfamily during her father's long absences doesn't keep her from wishing for more.

When romance blooms between her and Peter Ronan, Mollie finally allows herself to hope for a brighter future—until her father voices his disapproval of the match and moves her to California to ensure the breakup. Still, time and providence are at work, even when circumstances are at their bleakest. Mollie may soon find that someone far greater than her father is in control of the course of her life—and that even the command to "honor thy father" has its limits.

New from New York Times bestselling author Jane Kirkpatrick, Beneath the Bending Skies is a sweeping story of hospitality, destiny, and the bonds of family.

It’s any interesting book. I enjoyed the Speaker’s presentation of the story. I got confused at times due to so many characters being involved. I’m happy to learn how much of the story is based on actuality. Molly was a truly remarkable woman!

I’ve read most of Jane Kirkpatrick’s books, I met her years ago in Bend, Oregon at the high desert museum I first started buying these books for my mother, and she loved them so much. I thought I would give them a try. I use them as bedtime stories, which I completely love this narrators voice on this particular book is perfect. My only worry is I’m going to run out of titles written by Ms kirkpatrick.

Perfectly woven story

Once again, I am blown away by Jane's attention to detail as she honors Mary Ronan in this incredible account of her life. More than once I was moved to tears, as I could easily relate to Mrs. Ronan's struggles as a wife and mother, and found strength in her resiliency and the strength it took for her to follow her heart and to be a constant light for her family. My own heart holds a special place in Helena and it made this story all the more endearing.

Illuminating
