Publisher's Summary

The average parent has approximately 950 weeks with a child before he leaves home. If they have a seven-year-old, they have 400 weekends left. How can families maximize this dwindling time? They can’t eliminate the distractions of modern life. They can’t give their kids a pill to keep them two forever. In fact, no amount of praying or repenting will give them the meaningful family they desire. What’s the solution? Create regular traditions that bring joy, significance, and memories to family life.

Popular blogger and mom of three, Jessica Smartt explains why memory-making is the puzzle piece that today’s families are longing for. She highlights 10 tradition-gifts kids need most and offers practical encouragement to modern parents to keep on adventuring - even when they are fighting distractions, are budget-pressed, and exhausted.

A rich resource of 200-plus unique traditions and beloved family recipes available in the audiobook companion PDF download.

Some good Ideas - But too Religious for me

I thought this book was pretty good. It has a lot of good ideas for memory making traditions that I hadn't thought of before- some I will try to implement in my own life. The author seems very sweet and I think has good intentions for writing this book, although I was a little bit annoyed that it came across as the "mamas" job to make traditions. I believe memory making and traditions are important for any parent or guardian (mom, dad, grandparents, etc.), Overall this book was a little too religious for me. I am not Christian so a big part of the book didn't really feel like it could be applied to my life, and some spots felt a bit preachy - however I was able to listen to with a grain of salt and still appreciate her perspective.

eye opening! life changer!

I loved this book! made me think a lot about my childhood and the things that I remember and why I remember them. I have a one year old son. my family was not a tradition family, and that is probably why I remember only a few things from my childhood. This book gave me a new perspective to approach my little family.
