Better than Nothing...

Since technology and computer books seem to be rare in audiobook format, it's hard not to be happy that this title is even available in the first place. Unfortunately, it's not going to be even close to enough to get you to pass the test. Please get yourself some physical study materials, and invest in some classes or at least get some hands-on practice time. However, I do think this title will work well as a part of a larger, more rounded study plan for the test--either as a basic refresher course/overview, or as a study tool to help drill certain things into your head. What this book is bad with is not giving you enough cold, hard facts. An audiobook is the perfect format for flash-card style memorization and practice questions. Imagine driving to work while also taking an A+ practice test. You hear a question, are given the possible answers verbally, and are allowed time to think before the correct answer and a detailed explanation follow. Such a tool would be powerful and useful, but this is not it. This book lacks the details and numbers that test-takers often get stumped on. While not perfect, it is the only tool open to you so far on Audible and it's much better than nothing. I just wish publishers would recognize the power of audiobooks, not just as a translation from written text, but as a medium in and of themselves--especially for test preparation. I hope to see more titles like this on Audible, and perhaps even some original offerings designed specifically for a new generation of students and professionals who study not with pens and pads, but with laptops and digital media players.

Audible needs a new CompTia A+ book

What was most disappointing about Christopher Parker’s story?

It is old and out of date.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. The A+ certification is huge, and to only have one lame and out of date option in all of Audible is, again, a disappointment.

Any additional comments?

Not enough info

I listened to this book six times and then took a practice test and failed. Lots of good info just not enough to prepare you for the test.

Good Starter

This book is great to familerize yourself with some of the content needed on the A+ test. It obviously cant include everything, but its a good starting point to see if you are up to the challenge, or if you need to brush up on your skills a bit more.

Badly outdated

Not bad overall, but this version is very out of date. The newest CompTia test is the 901 and 902 covering much more information than this book does.

No longer relevant

Would you try another book from Christopher Parker and/or Todd Schick?

Perhaps. This book was probably incredibly useful back when people used Windows Vista.

What could Christopher Parker have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Nothing. He was fine.

What three words best describe Todd Schick’s performance?

Fine. It's a tech book.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Mastering the CompTIA A+?

Clearly these questions weren't formatted for textbooks.

Any additional comments?

This textbook is out of date. That's all there is to it.

Nice audible

This audiobook was great, because the voice and technical concept, i wished some more hours of audio, was short 3 hours, i know about A+ courses with more than 8 to 24 hours of training

i wish more technical aubibles pleas such as Network, Server, Security among others

Supplemental at best

The narrator is very upbeat. Not thorough enough for the exam though. Get an actual book and study hard.

a very good read

I listened to this book while driving my van at work and thoroughly enjoyed it, it is full of good facts but you do need to remember that it is about the old course and not the current one,

this book is about 10 Years old and some of the content is out of date but the approach is sound and can be useful as a revision training aid... but not much else.

its the old Comptia A+

its not the current comptia 701-702. its the old 601-602
Also, the reader is very rushed. Its better than nothing though so can't moan too much.
Will it help me pass my comptia test? I think it'll help for sure but you have to use it in confunction with other learning materials.
If i pass my test, then I'll up the score a little :o)

Fantastic!

I am now a fully certified A+ technician! I used this audio book to everview what I have previously studied, the narration was charismatic and the content was well structured and put together to make for a fantastic purchase. I only wish they did one for either the N+ or S+ certifications so I could see which would be more suited for me. Thank you Awdeeo!
